Pattaya hotels?i want a hotel on the beach,preferably close to restaurants and shops,but on the beach?

Rabbit hill resort is on the beach...unless sex the main reason for going to pattaya, try and stay in Jomtien, the beach is a lot better and a 5 min baht bus ride to pattaya nightlife. Pattaya beach is crowded with hawkers and tourist during the day....also small when you actually get there....Jomtien is much bigger. If beach view is the main attraction, there are numerous hotels ON Jomtien beach.

A good hotel "on the beach" is the Avalon in Jomthien. It's also just on the hill going towards South Pattaya, so you can be in the shopping area (by cab) in 5-10 minutes. Not cheap, but a pleasant hotel (relatively new) and it's own private beach. The Royal Cliff Resort also has it's own beach, and there are some cheaper hotels (e.g. Asia Hotel) in the same general area. Then fully on Jomthien Beach there are several hotels (but further from the shopping). Another alternative is North Pattaya beyond the start of Beach Road after the Dolphin roundabout. On Beach Road itself, there is no hotel with direct access to the beach, but the Armani, the A1 Cruise Hotel, the Montien and the Hard Rock Hotel all have direct access to Beach road, with just the road itself to cross for access to the beach.

Take the 'song taew' or Red Line bus to Jomtien Beach. You'll find everything there. There's no 'best' hotel in Pattaya. Even the cleanest and 'best' hotels have their flaws, so it is really up to you. South Pattaya Rd. is not on the beach though it is near beach areas like Walking St. and other 'tourist' places (depends on where you're at).

Depends on what you are looking for really. If you want the nightlife just around the corner you should stay at Pattaya Beach. If you want shops and a nice beach, you should stay at Jomtien beach (see http://www.pattayalinks.net/detail/link-61.html for a recommendation) Or if you want to lie on a quiet and nice beach you should head for Pratamnak and find a hotel there. From there you can take a motorbike taxi to central Pattaya for 40-50thb
