  • Answer:

For small qty, ($500 and below) its better to change in the respective countery out side the Airport. (Airport exchange usually not good) Its not all that safe to carry large sum of money. It is wise to have a credit card that will not charge transaction fee when dithdraw overseas ATM machine. Citi bank Ready credit has this feature, I am Sure there are others with similar deal and you can set daily limits.. I travel regulaly due to my work, I use ready credit from citi bank.

Very straight solution : Just exchange all your money in USD in india and exchange it in Thailand. If you have SGD so you don't need to convert in USD, just exchange it in Thailand. SGD is acceptable over there. If you have INR, Please note, No any person is allowed to take much of Indian currency. so exchange it in USD in india and then take it to Thailand.

Last time I was there they were reluctant to take money from India because of couterfeits. So best change before you go
