You can ask your hotel clerk to write a note in Thai explaining that you are allergic to peanuts. Also include on that note that peanuts can kill you! When you order food you can show that note to the waiter or waitress. Most Thais can read their own language but most tourists rarely ever pronounce Thai phrases with great accuracy - sometimes only close enough is okay for shopping for clothes and tours. You can't take a chance on "only being close enough" when you have a serious allergy! http://www.thai-language.com/forums/t/p13118 http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Allergy-Peanuts-t21492.html There is always McDonalds, they are all over the place! http://nutrition.mcdonalds.com/nutritionexchange/nutrition_ingredients.html You can also ask a question from long time expats who routinely post replies on this forum, the Thai Visa Forum. Perhaps there are some long term expats who can recommend some safe places to eat at in Bangkok or Phuket. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/General-topics-f2.html Good luck.

This is a serious question . There are many restaurants in Patong , seafood is very popular. I have ate Thai dishes and they did include nuts. Bangkok is a big City and have restaurants from all over the World. Food is cooked to order so when you order make sure the person understands you. I am sure that your Dad must of thought of this before you left - there are always plenty of 7/11 shops that you can buy food and cook yourself. I cannot read Thai and even if I could you must ask and make sure no nuts. Enjoy your Holiday and have a wonderful time.

The most unique food they have is fried grub worms ,grasshoppers ,and crickets. Also it seems to me wieners is somewhat of a delacacy over there because they put it on pizza ,and they serve it in upscale restauraunts ,but fish ,shrimp and chicken is everywhere in Thailand(Pattaya anyway).

Being allergic to peanuts don't eat/try Som-tam (a famous papaya salad from Isaan). Other than that you can eat almost everything. To be on the save side in local Restaurants don't try all sauces unless you know there are without peanuts.
