Can I use my Vanilla Visa gift card in Thailand?

  • It's only $25, can I use it at 7-11 or other places who accept Visa? Also, will they charge me an extra fee? It was bought in the US.

    This card does not work at all stores in the U.S. it will not work in Thailand.

If you limit is $25 USD don't use it. Even if you buy a pack of gum using a US credit card in Thailand you be charged an international service charge. Why use a card when the service charge will cost more than the small items you are trying to buy?

Use it up in the US. Even if it worked in a Thai ATM you would pay 150 baht or around $5 to get the money out. Is this the only credit or debit card you have? You can also use travelers checks in Thailand too. Only bring the largest denominations. Have fun.
