What's so nice about Taipei?

Whats the best district to stay in Taipei?

  • Hi im going to Taipei in October, and i don't know where to book my hotel as ive never been before.Where are the best districts to stay that aren't to expensive and are easily located for cultural sight seeing and nightlife spots.I know theres an MRT network there, can you buy whole day/night passes or are taxis easyer.I was thinking either the Da an or Xinyi but i havent got a clue!! Any thoughts or ideas? THANKYOU

    Ximen area would be the best place to stay if you are up for shopping. Anywhere near the MRT station is okay. You can also stay near the Taipei Main Station. It's easy to get around the area via the MRT - and yes, they do have day passes for unlimited transfers. But if you're not fond of walking, I suggest you ride a taxi instead since it's quite a walk to transfer from one train to the other. It was okay for us in the morning but it drained us by the end of the day. My wife and I just visited Taipei last week. I also suggest to always bring an umbrella.

Taipei Main Station are would be best for a First timer. These are a few good clean reasonably priced 3* Hotels in the area. The Bus station back to the Airport is within walking distance, so it the MRT. Getting around is not a problem.Taxi are reasonable as well and you would have to use them late at night. Getting to all the Tourist and cultural sights from this area is great. I stayed over in the Ba-Li district near Dan-shui. It was quite nice over there.
