  at the school you are enrolled in. Thats their business! Sometimes there are the shifty looking business people hawking their particular curriculae outside the schools. If you want a non-standard bag go to any department store or market. The uniforms, bags and texts are all issued by each school individually (usually) I mention the idea of non standard bags because often the standard issue bag isnt capable of holding all the books and papers your child will take home to annoy you with. No school I have heard of has ever had a problem with non standard bags but most places get pissy if you dont dress your kid in their uniform. Your kid may still need a set of street clothes for often many schools have 1 day that is 'casual'. But that depends on the school. As a teacher, personally I think you should limit your child to 1 hour a night of the BS homework sent home by many of the teachers. Dont do it for them, it wont help their mark on the tests and ongoing class work. We can tell. Acceot that your child may need to pick and choose certain subjects to specialize in early due to the broken overworked system that currently exists. Math and science you cant really go wrong with, and try to make sure they can read and write at least 1 language properly. (I am biased towards english myself, but thats self interest.)
