How to get a Canadian PR card renewal if PR card holder was married in Taiwan to Canadian citizen?

Has anyone here gone through the hoops for what happens if a PR card holder wants to renew it (despite NOT being in Canada for 3 yrs total). PR card (sponsored common-law) was obtained 2 years before marriage to Canadian citizen in Taiwan. Now married 2 years, the PR card time is coming up... just curious if anyone here has any experience related to my situation. Also, toss in a (theoretical) child, who doesnt exist yet.

if you have not maintained the required residency status, then it is assume that you have abandoned your PR status.
