Where is the best place to stay (5 day visit) in Singapore?

  • Im looking for an affordable and convenient place to stay in Singapore. Im checking out the Fragrance group of Hotels...seems reasonable. Can someone advise me on this, or suggest a better place. ..also things I should be aware of when in Singapore. Thanks!

  • Answer:

If you are willing to spend a littel bit more, try the Raffels Hotel.

I'm not sure but I think those group of hotels are from the red-light district? For other choices, I recommend the HotelClub website: http://www.hotelclub.net/hotel.reservations/Singapore.htm

There are many budget Hotels in Singapore you can consider, it's better to choose Hotels at the East side (such as Geylang, Joo Chiat), as you can find many nice foods. You can check out this website: http://www.instantroom.com/reservation/frmSearchHotel.aspx?CNID=1&CTID=2&SID=1011&gclid=CL_AmvvXm4oCFQ27bgodPEZWmw Bascially it's quite safe to visit Singapore, the only thing you should be aware is not to break any law.

Most hotels are on Orchid Rd, this is a good place to stay because it is where all the action is. There are plenty of hotels to choose from, it really depends what you mean by affordable, if you travelling with dollars, pounds, euro, your affordable will be different to what they call affordable in singapore. Things to be aware of Singapore has plenty of strict laws be careful because they are very very strict, if you smoke put your ash and butt in the bin, or you can get fined up to $150 and chewing gum put it in the bin, actually just dont litter all together, they pride themselves on being the cleanest in asia

You can go to Orchard (it's a must), Clarke Quay, Merlion Park, Little India, Chinatown, Jurong, and Sentosa. But it's up to you...

Just posted my thoughts on another question about one of the Fragrance Hotels (Selegie). Not sure about the others, but look around, places like www.wotif.com or www.hotelclub.com can offer some other alternatives. Fragrance Selegie had unbelievably tiny rooms (ok if you're travelling by yourself I guess, but no good for a couple) and was generally quite crap. Look at places like www.virtualtourist.com for users reviews, it's helpful.

try 81 hotel, at Geylang. it is cheap. singapore is so small that the location of hotel doesnt matter actually. have fun!

well I would say you can also try out backpackers hostel as well, its pretty cheap compared to hotel in orchard. Check out the web below and you can compare the price as well as look at what their rooms look like, Basically you have nothing much to worry about as Singapore is a relatively safe place, just avoid dark alleys and too overly friendly people, some people might want to sell you things at an expensive price, hope this helps, cheers
