Did u see ALL those rubbish at Marina Bay?

Singapore Flyer, the next company to fold up????/?

  • Singapore Flyer tickets are now selling at less than half price. For passion card holders, the price for adult is now $14.00. For school children, the price is $10.00 The original selling price is $29.50, the icon of Marina Bay was supposed to be a sell out. This marketing messages was repeatedly conveyed to the media for the Opening in March, again in April and now once again for the Formula One. If you visit the Flyer any day and any time, look around and you see a deserted mall, with more staff than visitors. Look up and you see empty capsules passing by one by one. Is the Singapore Flyer the next major company to fold up in this financial crisis. The company is certainly not doing as well as it care to acknowledge.

    economy very bad

I guess it's because there's nothing much to see when you are up in the Singapore Flyer.. perharps wait till the IR is up, and the city park at Marina Bay and there will be more good scenaries... otherwise all are empty land around; what's there to see??

Escalating oil, food prices, higher transport costs, not much money, jobs are hard to find & economy is very bad!

Expected this would happen as the original price was far too expensive for the average local citizen who would not make repeated rides. It seems reasonable now, and to survive well, the Company should explore ways to market their services for govt agencies and companies' functions as well. A discount for a second round of ride would be attractive. Any expensive attraction or event lasting less than an hour and a half, and costing above $15 would not work in the long run, for both locals and tourists who are more discerning now. The trick for continued business is to get them back for many repeated visits. Just a thought.

It is expensive to run business in Singapore. It needs a steady flow of revenue to sustain its high overhead cost. Locals are not thrill to go up the flyers more than once even if the price is much lower than $14.00.If the flyer is totally dependent on tourism, then it must be a sure-visit item. I anticipate it shall change ownership in less than a year or two.

mainly because of the bad economy and people are careful when spending. SGD29.50 for a ride in too exp (similarly to the defunt DHL Ballons) i guess the flyer will be another tourist trap in singapore. (Maybe one the IR is ready, thing might turn up better)
