What are the best area's to stay in Singapore?

I'm staying in Singapore for just 2 days. Can anyone recommend which are the best located area's to stay. Also, any hotel and restaurants recommendations? Thanx!!!

If you are an avid shopper then Orchard Road it is, if you want to explore more that just shopping, then stay at City Hall area. It is still close to Orchard Road. Some old churches at City Hall,nice dining places at CHIJMES, monumental buildings, close to Bugis (another shopping haven, don't miss Bugis village for cheap knick knacks and 'branded' goods - non authentic. Hotel I would recommend : Naumi Hotel latest chic hotel in town - between City Hall and Bugis Swissotel - City Hall Intercontinental Hotel - Bugis Meritus Mandarin - Orchard Road Hyatt Hotel - Orchard Road
