Im going to singapore to look for work n eventually to work and live there. can i buy a one way ticket?

  • i am from the philippines, i'll be leaving this feb to go to singapore to look for work and really hoping to get one. i was told by the ticketing officer here in the philippines that i cannot buy a one way ticket if i am a tourist. is that true? will i be asked by the immigration as to why im holding a one way ticket only? please help, thanks

  • Answer:

ICA will not allow for you to entry if you don't "SHOW ' them return air-ticket. and air-line may not issue any boarding pass for you to fly, because air-line take 100 % responsible to check every think before issue boarding pass , if not, any things happened , there have to send you back by next fly " free ". In business , there may sales to you, one way ticket , but for airport check in ,is handle by other, there got the right , no to issue any boarding pass, even you hold Ticket ! Time is very bad for jobs market , local citizen can even get jobs after Jan, 16000 or more people loss there jobs last 3 month. and Issue for any type Work-Pass from our Government is very conservative now. are you SURE you are able to get jobs in 30 day ? even you hold return ticket and allow for 30 day social visit .From what i knows , except Professional jobs ( S-Pass / EP ), very few jobs is allow for Philippines passport holder to work under Work Permit , there it, but very few ! is not the right time ! may be search jobs from local Employment agency is better for you at this " bad time" is Singapore.

Yes, the ticketing officer is correct. They may query why you only have a one way ticket. Buying one-way ticket implies you are not leaving the country unless you have other means of transportation. By the way, it is not so easy to find a job by just coming to Singapore. What is your plan? How do you intend to find the job? What if you do not find the job? You have to think more thoroughly.

Its true. You'll be turned away. Its not easy to get a work permit in Singapore even if you've any degrees to support.

Li

Yes it is true since you don`t have a confirmed employment letter.
