What is the baggage allowance for my connecting flights?

US Airways Baggage Allowance while connecting to Singapore Airlines to Chennai-India from Phoenix?

  • I am travelling from Phoenix to Chennai (India) coming January. I am travelling from Phoenix to San Francisco in US Airways and from SFO to Chennai in Singapore Airlines. My question is about baggage allowance for my check in luggages. I am travelling with my wife and my 2+ year old daughter. I know Singapore Airlines allow two 70lb check in baggage per passenger. US Airways allows only two 50 lb check in baggage per passenger. But few people are saying US Airways will allow 70 lb baggage if i am connecting to Singapore Airlines. When i called US Airways help desk, different agents are giving different answers. Have anyone boarded Singapore Airlines by connecting from domestic US Airwyas? What is the baggage allowance for may case? Can anyone please clarify me?

Other answers

I'm travelling frequently from Tucson to Chennai by US Airways / Singapore Airlines combination. Even in the check-in counter they are making the same confusion. Anyhow, in Phoenix itself ask the counter staff to put the luggage till Chennai and show them your singapore airlines ticket too. So they will for sure allow 2 pieces of 70 lb baggages. If you want to check-in your baggages till SFO, then they will allow you only 50 lb.
