Answer:
S$4500 is quite alot of money. I worked as IT consultant for 6 years, still unable to get this amount. It's should be more than enough for two person. Rental for a baisc HDB 3 room flat (Public Housing) will cost you about S$1200 per month. For private housing will be much more expensive from S$1500 onwards. Daily expenses of S$400 per month should be enough for you, include meal and transportation. Thus, you shoud still have a saving of S$1500 or more per month if you spend your money wisely.

Yeah...I agree with Tan...You just have to watch out for the kind of house you are renting/buying.Some may spent too much on house.Other than that your income should be very comfortable for living in Singapore.

Living in Singapore , 1.Rental of housing $1.2k - $1.5K 2.Transportation(public transport) $3oo/mth 3. Meals $3.00/meal/pax 4.lastly, try not to spent in here , you can save all the cash in hand to spend it back home.

Tan's answer isquite reasonable. However, you may wish to add a contingency of say another S$3-500 just in case you need to spend on something which you may not have expected to while shopping around and if need be the occasional taxi trips. I stayed in Singapore between November/December last year and I rented a room at Punggol. I paid S$500 for the room - no cooking as I was invited to join the owners (an elderly couple) for meals.

$4500 should be enough for you and your wife. There's a lot of decent rental housing between $1200 to $2000. or you can even share the house and pay less. I worked there between 2001 to 2005, my wife stayed in the Philippines. I shared the house with my work mates which cost me $350. I was also making $4500. I saved a lot.
