I am an indian, I earn INR 45k/month in the IT field, I have a job offer in singapore which will pay me.....?
-
3500 SG dollars/month. Now is it worth taking up this job in singapore...?..
-
Answer:
ok think about this..45K in india is alot of money...with the cost and standard of living, that amount of money would easily make you live in a comfortable home in india with no worries of expenditure. 3500 SGD is alot more than 45K INR if u do the math, but the cost and standard of living here is very high compared to india... im sure living in india and earning 45K INR would make u more happier than living in singapore and earning 3.5K with high cost of living.

The decision is yours ... However to help you decide try using what I call the McIndex principle. The McIndex Principle basically measure the cost of living of each country vs the earning power you have. Basically do this: With INR 45K calculate how many McDonald Meals you can buy (you should also use something like a can of coke in the supermarket as another guide as well) then compare that with the number of McDonald Meals you can buy in Singapore with $3500. That would give you a rough guide of which country gives you a better value in terms of money. By the way a McDonald Meal in Singapore is about $6.50 and a Can of Coke in the Supermarket about $0.50 So Singapore McIndex for you is 538 and CokeIndex is 7000. Do take into consideration other things like having experience of living in other country, your family and friends etc into consideration as well ... these you cannot put a value on. *NB - Companies like Cocacola and McDonalds calculate the cost of living all over the world to make the meals fair enough for the population to enjoy so it is really a very good guide. Good luck

45K/month in your country was pretty ok for you to have a good life. If you will convert 3.5K SG $/month its double what you are earning now but you will be living in Singapore where cost of living will also be double what you are spending now. Not to take into consideration the culture, environment, & lifestyle differences...which one will you choose?. If I am in your position, if I am single I will accept the offer but if I am married, I will stay.

You should look up the cost of living avg in where exactly the job is located but the exchange rate currently puts the 3500 SG at approx. double what you get paid now, it would exchange to 94,730 INR/month Good luck with the move.
