What is it like to live in Singapore?

What are HDB flats in Singapore like to live in ?

  • Hello I have a new budget of around 2,000 singapore dollars and need a 2 bed place to stay in. I do not mind mixing with local people at all and usually get on better with non-westerners ! Can you suggest the best places to have an HDB if I need to be next to the MRT and I have no car. I will work in business but need to be in a place with many taxis as I fly out of singapore frequently. Thanks Jon

It depends, I suppose your working at Raffles so somewhere along the Green line would benefit you most. Put into consideration your need to rush to the airport in case of emergency, somewhere along the East. You should consider PayaLebar to Pasir Ris. Its near to the airport and with just 15 minutes you'll have no problem reaching the airport. The houses there are quite affordable due to the diversity of middle-class and upper-class families... so prices are mid-ranged. Check out ads and make a decision, you're living in the house so make it cosy and nice!

toa payoh would be a good place to rent. the flats there mostly are 3-room flats, ie 2 bed rooms and a storage place. it's not too expensive. and near the town area. near to the expressway too that leads right up to the airport.

If you can pay a few hundred more you can get a condo with pool, gym etc. If 3 bedroom you can rent 2 rooms for a high price which lets you live for virtually free.
