Can anyone give me any information on Infinitus 2010?

Working and Cost of Living in Singapore (2010)?

  • Hello, I just wanted to know if anyone could give me some information based on experience. I have been offered a contract in Singapore (12 months) and I was hoping to get some information before making my decision. Specifically the following in $SGD is fine. 1. Living Expesnes - water, gas, electricity, food (2 adults) 2. Housing Expenses - 1 or 2 bedroom appartment rent in a good neighbourhood - maybe 20-30 mins from the city (I've heard the further out you go the cheaper it is) --- if anyone can give me actual suburbs or town names so that I can research further that would be great! 3. Public transport - buses, traing or taxi Any recent price guides/ information would be really great as I am getting some mixed messages about the above on some local forums

Hey there, Oh that's just great. congratulation on your offer. 1. Because singapore do not have natural resources, Gas, water & electricity are very expensive. Gas for a full tank is about $80. Monthly electricity & water bills, or how we call it here (PUB) is about $300-$600/month. For foods, its quite cheap. Its about $10/meal. 2. Singapore is small, so u don't have to worry about living near the city.Everywhere is accessible, you can get to places quickly & easily.Time taken to travel from one end of the country to another end is about 1 hour. Living near the city area? You gotta be a millionaire if you wanna live near the city area. I would recommend living in the eastern part, because the western parts are all the Industrial/factories area & cheapest houses in singapore are in the west. But anyways, Eastern parts are the best, I'm a Singaporean & I've lived in this neighbourhood called 'Tampines' my whole life. Go search it up on wikipedia. Its an amazing neighbourhood, great place to grow up in, great place to live in. 2 room apartment monthly rents depends what kind of apartment are you renting out for. Flats? or Condos? Flats are cheaper. 2 room flats - $800/month 2 room condo-$1200/month 3. Transportation system here is alright For trains & Buses, they dont accept cash. So you gotta get this card called ez-link & you have to tab your card on this electronic censor to pay for the fares. and top-up money into that card whenever the credit is low. Buses fares - $1.50 Trains-$2-$5 Taxis- $3-$80 cars are expensive too. A honda Odyssey is about $95,000 Its also over-crouded. Its 700 km Square & the population is 5 million

Hmm, is it that expensive? First of all, congratulation on your offer:) For me, a full tank of gas is about $50 and the monthly electricity and water bills came in at 200-300 given the fact that my family of 4 (3 rooms) on air-conn for about 3 hours every night. On the other hand, food for me is around $3-10, if you were to have your lunch at a hawker centre which can be found easily at any part of Singapore. Travelling from one end to the other end of the country is about 1 hour if you were to travel by train which is widely known at MRT here (excluding time travelled to the train station). Living near or in the city's vicinity is usually for the rich. For me, I would recommend you living in the western part such as Bukit Batok. I disagree that the western part are all industrial/factories area as I myself, who is living in Bukit Batok does not experience any air/noise/water/land pollution. I can only say that I love my neighbourhood and its easily accessible to any part of Singapore :) Sorry, but I'm not sure about the rental price. Transportation. For bus, the drivers don't give back money if you pay excess, therefore, it is always good if you bring some coins with you. The amount you have to pay depends on the station you're alighting, the nearer it is, the cheaper it would be. Normally it range from $1-2.20. Oh ya, if you had to travel frequently in BUS, you can apply for a card which allows you to travel limitless for a month for about $25. On the other hand, trains don't accept cash, if you don't have any card to begin with, you have to buy a standard card which can be bought from a machine near the MRT station with a deposit of $1. You can collect your $1 after you arrive your destination from the very same machine located near the station where you alight. Trains are usually $1++ as an adult if you had ezlink, while standard card is slightly more expensive ranging from $1-$2.50 (after you collect your $1 deposit) Taxis are expensive, expecially during peak hours or after midnight. Try to avoid peak hours, as the number of people going back home is really the peak. Population: 5 million Official language: English, Mandarin, Malay, Indian Temperature range between 26-35 degree celcius Hope you enjoy your trip! P.S Prices are all SGD :)
