What kind of cool things are available in Singapore? (Especially gadgets, electronics, Computer stuff, etc...)
-
Friend going to Singapore next week - offeing to buy a few gifts. I don't know what is available there - what items are cheap or expensive, what Singapore is famous for. Can somebody let me know? Thanks. By the way, I LOVE gadgets, electronics, computer stuff, cameras, iPods, etc... Is all that stuff there?

Answer:
For all electronic gadgets and computer stuff, you can try Funan shopping centre (located near City Hall MRT station) for quality goods or Sim Lim Square (located between Little India or bugis MRT station) for bargain stuff. One trick is to really know your stuff well before going to these 2 places if not you will be ended up as a carrot (deliciously chop and strew) and always ask for a discount especially in Sim Lim Square. You might want to consider comparing a few shops before deciding on your purchases -the prices of the shops might vary a lot so going to one shop might be expensive while another might be cheap. Also know what is in the package of the gadget so the black shop there won't be selling you "spare" parts that is suppose to be in the package. I worked there (Sim Lim Sq) for 1 weekend and I can tell you some salesman (for their own commission) are willing to sell very expensive to foreigners who don't talk for discount.

hi gian singapore is a city with 3000 cabs hhm so they say - lovely clean city, but a little expensive so kep your hand in your pocket , the main street orchard road is excellent , and always lots happening , the people are very friendly and the ladies always dressed neatly , you will find all the gadgets you need , just check the costs at your local hi fi or department stores before you go to compare the costs , some items may be a bit cheaper - but remember you will not have the warranty that you have with your local seller, take some sing dollars with you before you leave your home airport, you can change it at the aiport, good luck and have a nice trip cheers tommy

sg's pretty up to date in the electronics/ gadgets scene, though new releases in the EU & US, may only start sprouting here at the very least 1-2wks delay here. be specific with what u wanna get, your fren wont have much issue getting around to pick something that fits your wishlist.
