    I don't know much about Singapore, but I known Hong Kong. Hong Kong's police force is based on the British police force, and has been operating efficiently for over 100 years. It's had its problems, but since reforms in the 1970s and 80s it has become one of the least corrupt and most effective police forces in the world. It's got a good reputation for being fair, and it's almost unheard of to have incidents like the Rodney King incident, or for a Hong Kong policeman to kill an unarmed civilian.

Recently there're many questions similar to this one appearing in the China Section and Other-Asia Pacific Section, is this a popular Singaporean talent to showcase itself? No wonder your country never matches Hong Kong's vast number of talents and world's top people. By the way go dig up your history, your government were busy copying Hong Kong's model back in the 70s onwards.

Singapore police busy themselves with arresting people for petty crimes like littering, jaywalking and "unlawful" assemblies of young people. Hongkong police does not interfere in these things generally. People in Hongkong can demonstrate and have their voices heard because it is their freedom but not in Singapore!
