Hi there! I went to Singapore last Christmas together with hubby. This is our first time traveling outside Malaysia without depending on travel agency. We chose Bugis Backpackers Hostel. (Mind the word hostel there) the hostel is situated next to Bugis Mrt Station. When you walk outside the Mrt Station.you will find the bus stop in front of you, and Bugis's is on your right hand side. Cross the road, you can see KFC restaurant, next to KFC there will be a Chinese shop selling shoes, fake flowers and etc. The hostel is on the 3rd floor. We chose private room; 1 queen bed, stool, dressing table, fan, aircond, window facing the road. I can say that we have made a good decision to stay at this place. It is near to shopping complex, near to Arab street (food and fabric heaven).. Super duper easy access. Near to 7 Eleven, Fast food restaurant and etc. I dunno what else to say, but this will be my choice if I ever happen to visit Singapore again. p/s: If you are looking for jacuzzi, entertainment, and spacious area; this will be not the right place. If you are looking for a place to rest your body after a hectic day in Singapore; I recommend you this place. Happy holiday!

You can see an overview of hotels and prices in the Geylang area by going to the map option from the link below. The map option will display the location of the MRT stations relative to the hotel (simply hover over the hotel option to display approximate rates for the hotel. Hotel 81 Tristar seems like one option.

Hi you might want to take a look at: 1. Victoria Hotel (5-7 min walk to City Hall MRT) 2. Fort Canning Lodge (5 min to Dhoby Ghaut MRT) Depending on when you are arriving, both are likely to be within your budget.

Check out the Fragrance or Hotel 81; cannot go wrong as all you need to sleep only. They are clean and not pretentious like 5 star hotels. But dont expect any outstanding service as the maids are may be from foreign country so do the reception. Good luck as now Singapore become either China or India. Hahhah

I was told that there are many budget hotels along Geylang Road and room rate is averaged around S$80.00-100.00 only. Some are within walking distant to the Aljunied MRT station. I hope its helpful.
