How to get NTUC card?

In Singapore, Malay get the most out of everything when it comes to assistance. Agree?

  • When we non-malay apply for financial or any other assistance fromt he government, we dun get what the malays are getting. And to top that, we ARE working. I recently applied for financial assistance from the CDC and told them what help i need to help ease the situation i am currently in. I am a single mum, working full-time with a kid of 3yrs old in child care centre. Despite telling them what difficulties i am in, hoping they could help me for 6 months to clear my out standing payment with the utilities board, telcom, rental and conservency charges and medical outstanding bills as my kid needed treatments in hospital for kid's common illness. They only helped me in a way that they put me under self-reliance plan and just a medical card which let my daughter consult doctors for free in all polyclinics and hospitals, and a monthly $100 cash. But my HDB rent and other bills are not getting help from them at all. So eventually I'm still out and down. Where as the malay are getting even MORE help and they don't work!!! My neighbor who don't go to work gets utilities offset, $100 monthly, rental and SCC paid by CDC, medical card, free textbooks for their kids, free school uniforms and NTUC vouchers during that 6 months!!!!! Is the government biased or silence racist? Just because they have more kids? And when they don't work? Then i should consider not going to work too! The government feeding them while they sit at home and enjoy the latest iphone that cost almost $500?!?!?! My neighbor managed to have 3 kids 5, 8 and 12. Drive a japanese car of 1600cc, 2 brand new iphone they got just last nite and keeping all under wrap?????!!!!!!!! What happens to people like me? Well if you think i 'm grumbling cos i don't feel balanced, then YES! cos this is what is happening to me not you!

well there could be many reason y government give more assistance to malay/muslim; one of the reason is that these muslim may resort to terrorism if they dont get assistance from anyone; the word of jihad is used as if u r playing a stick; the government is afraid that more muslim will involve in extremism and destabilize the country just like those in afghanistan and iraq; rather than to happen this, the government had no choice but to give them some support; i read one article in the newspaper that there was racial riot between chinese and malay in the 1960s; because of this riot, indonesia carried out terrorist attack in singapore in 1960s; i think the government is afraid that terrorist will come from malaysia and indonesia and carried out attacks in singapore to destabilize the country; just bear in mind that singapore is surround by two muslim countries; another reason could be i recalled this article in the newspaper about few months ago, MM Lee said that the malays r given privilleges because they r indigenous people of singapore; now, is this fair to non-malays? TO Doctor No: dont take side of ur muslim fellow understand by saying "malu tak" to non-malays; do u understand mamak?

I can fully understand you. But, have you talked to your Malay neighbour to see how and what she filled in for the aid, what exactly her situations are and all the details. Sometimes things dont happen as one thought it appear to be, only by knowing every single details would you be able to compare, I hope you'll feel better after finding out all the nitties gritties from your neighbour. Have a happy new year season to you and your child!

Singapore is not known for social welfare to begin with, so you should not expect too much from the government. While I don't know if the government is playing fare or not, I suggest you befriend your neighbour and find out how they get the kinds of aids they get, maybe you can learn a thing or two because they is always programs or aids that we do not know about.

Not true at all. In Malaysia, yes, Malays get all the benefits above other races. It is being bias without proven. This is slandering. There are many criteria to be met before any organization can offer help in household bills. Yes, your neighbour drive a car, and yes, they have new iphone, don't really tell anything underlying all these. Coz, i can buy the new iphone for just $49.....why because through corporate plan (but you may think i buy at $500 or $800 because you don't know the real story). So, maybe, just be easy about it, talk to your neighbor and ask them how you and your family can seek help.

I believe the social workers are trying their best not to be biased, regardless of race and religious. Based on your case, you do not get as much financial aids, probably because they found that you are capable to look after yourself and your kid with the help given. Whereas, for your neighbour, as they are not working or UNABLE to get a job, thus more help is required. Regardless of what they have, at least you do try to support yourself by working full time. You do still contribute to the society. Whereas, for those people who totally rely on the Government, they are just what Chinese (Hokkien) said: "Eat waste rice".

Sorry to say that you got the whole thing wrong. The Government is not bias to any single race in any way. Meritocracy is the root of Singapore`s strength and success put forward from day one. There is no such thing as what you have mentioned above. Public assistance is treated on a case by case bases. The difference between you and your Malay neighbor is that you will get minimum public help as compared to your Malay neighbor is based on the fact that you are a working mun. So in other words you are productive and if you prefer the same help then stop working. Very simple but then where to put your face. Malu tak getting hands out all year long at our expense since we are all paying taxes.

Well, unfortunately this may be true to a certain extent. As our Minister Mention stated "the assumption of equal treatment for all races is 'false and flawed', and 'completely untrue'."
