What mobile connection should i get in singapore ?

  • Hi, I am coming to singapore for two years for pre university education through SIA youth scholarship in january 2012 and will be staying in a hostel. I was trying to find out what mobile connection i can get in singapore. I have a samsung android smartphone so i will like a 3g connection. I will basically need to call my parents in india once in a day,sometimes video call, have internet connectivity to use the apps like google maps ,email etc. So what connection should i get and how? how much time will it take?I should get my student pass in a couple of weeks. How much will the connection cost. I hope it will be less than INR 1200 per month.(i get 3g connection here for 700 per month). Also what can i do for internet on my laptop? I will be using it in my hostel. Thank you for your reply.

    In Singapore we have 3 major carriers for mobile and internet which is Singtel M1 and Starhub All of them are well establish telecom in Singapore. If you are holding on to Student Pass why not get a student plan which will be relatively cheaper as compare to normal plans. However do take note that the cost for a 3G plan is at least SGD 38 per month

Starhub I'd say. Because the plans in Singtel are getting expensive if I'm not wrong. Furthurmore, you'll get a privilege with the star hub set up box which includes many other channels international, with just a plan.

Hey guy, just check with one of the three big carriers Singtel, M1 or Starhub. All of them have deals on mobile and wireless internet. If you have residency and a FIN card (that's your ID), they can hook you up within a few hours, sometimes even faster. Just go to the stores all around the city and see what's running.
