Do they open packages in customs?

Do customs in the philippines open the packages?

  • my boyfriend is going to send me a care package and he will include a money on it.is it okay to include a money in the box.do customs open the box upon its arrival in the philippines?

  • Answer:

Tell your boy friend to use Xoom.com to send you money. It only cost 3 dollars to do so. It's very secure and very fast. A lot safer and faster then sending cash in a box. He can also use remit home.com as well if he wants to make your money delivery reoccurring. I use this service for my wife and I am very happy with it. This one is little more expensive but they give better exchange rate and provide a little more services. Don't send cash through the mail it will be stolen.

I work in customs and I'll be happy to look after your care package. Just let me know the addressee and pertinent details. Let your boyfriend know to spare no expense at fitting as much money in that box as possible =p

If you ticked yes in any boxes of the customs declaration form, yes, they have to open the package. And like the answer before mine, lying against the government is a crime. But everyone knows the Philippines is probably too weak to prevent it if you are a millionaire like Bill Gates, or a famous Nuclear Physicists of the former Soviet Union. Who knows if the citizens of the Philippines have the courage to enforce the Rule of Law.

MONEY SHOULDN'T BE INCLUDED in packages such as yours. Besides, even Philippines post office management discourage people in placing or putting money in any mail or packages they send either local or abroad because it will make people in the bureau to be more corrupt. I SUGGEST you discourage or advice your bf NOT to send money in the package or else the money will be gone in 60 seconds when it lands in the Philippines. Do customs official open boxes in their port, it depends on the courier list if your package is suspicious, no doubt the custom officers will no doubt open it. But if your package is none essential or nothing much to look inside it is safe they won't mingle with it. But most packages arriving in the Philippines comes from the USA. So everybody is curious what is inside it especially the custom officers.

To answer your question, YES, the Philippine post office does examine packages and NO, money and checks are not allowed. Money, checks and such will be confiscated. I've had several bad experiences with packages sent from abroad via the public post office. (In fact, I was supposed to receive one from HK but it never reached my end). If the box contains electronic products, these will also be held in custody until you cough up some customs fee AND storage fee. I would recommend that your boyfriend choose a private courier. For one, try Johnny Air Cargo (which charges separately for the money and the package). The nice thing about Johnny Air is that the recipient (you) need not pay anything anymore to claim the package and the staff informs you as soon as the package has arrived.

any care package from any country are required to be open at the philpost custom, no matter what you will still paying custom importing tax for your items. plus if they caught you with undisclosed item inside the package with your customer declaration form it is another additional fee or confiscation of the item. regards to money? good luck but for sure they will find it.

you could try your luck.. but sending money without declaration is really risky.. not only in Philippines but everywhere.. I think they don't open box unless they scan something suspicious.. I advise your boyfriend to send money thru Western Union, or maybe use Paypal..

Have your boyfriend send the money via Moneygram at Walmart for the cheapest way & send the package via LBC.
