What could be the minimum salary?

What is the minimum salary of preschool teachers in Manila Philippines?

• I had an interview as a preschool teacher in a quite famous preschool here located somewhere in Quezon City. I had 1 year experience teaching preschoolers in China. When we were negotiating about my monthly pay, the director/owner of the school told me that my salary would be P7,800 as a full time English adviser, without benefits. The benefits would follow after 1 year. P7800 he said, was the minimum salary for preschool teachers. I have to teach from 7:30-10:30am and 12:30-3:30pm mon-fri and of course, I still have to stay even of there;s no class to finish other paper works Now, my question is, is the pay justifiable??? Is P7800 really the minimum salary for preschool teachers???? If not, how much?

• Answer:

  10k is already at the low end if we're talking about private preschool... daily minimum wage for 8hour work is at P382... depending on how you are paid -- hourly, daily or monthly, that might spell the difference. If you're reporting half day or full day saturday as well that might change the computation a bit as well.
