  I never wanted to migrate, and I have lived here all my life. Not that I didn't know what was "there". In fact, that was the precise reason I wanted to stay. In reality, if you are comfortable where you live, and live a good life, you may not even want to migrate. But people migrate for several reasons. 1. Some people see a better income opportunities, resulting in a better life in another country, especially when there are limited opportunities and low salaries in their chosen profession where they currently live. For this reason, some Filipino doctors even take up Nursing for a crack at better salaries in the USA. 2. Some people migrate to give their kids a better growing up environment, and better education as they see it. Indeed, the quality of education in more developed countries is, in general, better than in the Philippines. Good quality education is available only to the well off, with kids attending expensive Ivy League schools that common wage earners can not afford even if they skip meals everyday. 3. Some people migrate just to be able to live in an environment that they think suits them best. Thus, even wealthy people who are comfortable in the Philippines migrate to more developed countries, thinking they belong there more than here. 4. And as a previous answerer has mentioned, some people migrate to re-join their families who have opted to move out.
