What do you use a Generator for?

What generator is best to use?

I was wondering, what is the best generator to use at home, we have: 2 laptop computers 1 desktop PC and a 1.5 HP air conditioner that we need to run in case of brown outs (which are getting more and more common these days). Any brand you can recommend? HP or KVA for that amount of load? Suggested stores (preferably in the Visayas area)? Diesel vs Gasoline (which one is better and why)? Thanks!!
