Is Boracay really in the Philippines?

Are there sharks in Boracay philippines?

  • Along with my trip to the philippines to go see my family we are stopping off at boracay for a few days and I was curious to know if there are any sharks as i would like to go into the sea (but just in shallow waters) also can sharks go into shallow waters and can they come up to boats? Thankyou :)

    there are gray reef sharks in a certain area of the island but they are not usually seen on the tourist spots of Boracay...

There are sharks pretty much everywhere .. from England to Australia to Ireland to America there are only 3 types of sharks to be really worried about the Great White and The Bull Shark and the Tiger Shark I'm pretty sure there may be 1-2 of these types around there along with many non dangerous species .. but seriously the chance of u actually seeing one let alone getting into any trouble with 1 The odds of being fatally attacked by a shark are estimated to be 300 million to one also a few more of the shark species of the Phillipines! http://www.unepscs.org/images/posters/Sharks_and_Rays_of_the_Philippines.jpg hope i didn't scare u :D and most sharks are intimidated by the presence of humans and will naturally bolt as soon as they see you I'n Australia while snorkeling i came face to face with a 2metre(small)Tiger shark it just casually circled me then swam away .. they are amazing creatures I saw many white tips and black tips too .. they just swim off as soon as they see you .. nothing to be alarmed of we are all a little worried when swimming .. ofc its not our natural environment to be in, and we know we are no longer the top predator Just stick with groups.. take care if you cut urself on coral etc.

I believe there are whale sharks. I went to boracay and went scuba diving, and didn't encounter anything harmful. Sharks do travel to shallow waters but rare. I have been watchiing shark week and was amazed at how sharks travel towards shore about four feet of water. If you are concerned, do some research. I know, I am scared of sharks too but they are fascinating creatures.
