Who do you think would be the next president of the Philippines?

Who do think would make the perfect president of the Philippines?

  • I've always been partial towards Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago. I think she has all the qualities of a good leader. She's outspoken, fierce, witty and undeniably very smart. Almost no one wants to cross paths with her, and for good reason. I think her heart is in the right place and she could lead the Philippines towards its long-awaited development. To be fair, I also think she gets carried away sometimes when it comes to her advocacies. I personally can't wait until P-Noy's tenure ends. He's a poor president, in my opinion. What're your thoughts?

  • Answer:

Well, I am not Filipino but I live here....If I could vote, I would vote for "Dolphy" at least then everyone could laugh as the government ripped em off.

We all know from the beginning that there is no "Perfect president" dear boy. It's hypothetical. If ever the current president of the great nation of the Filipinos would have lifted the country from poverty by tomorrow, that would not make him perfect my dear child. Even if the president is doing pretty good in the service of the country, people will keep finding some of his/her lapses and faults. The current Philippine President Benigno Aquino as far as I know has been moving his @$$ and has been trying to pull the country up from poverty and failure. But of course, everyone must cooperate my dear child. It's not like in a wave of a fairy's wand, the Philippines will be progressive and would find its way in the top that fast. Time is to prove that his efforts will pay off later on in the not so far future. The people and the country will benefit from it in the long run.

William H. Taft, a 400 lb former supreme court judge that could not be pushed around. the best part about Taft is he really, really, never wanted the job as Governor General of the philippines, and did it only on request of his buddy, Teddy Roosevelt. Taft's only career goal was to be chief justice of the supreme court, which he achieved later. This is a stark contrast for many politicians that seek office for personal gain for themselves, family or cronies. As president of the US, Taft is known for 2 main achievements: trust busting, breaking up the monopolies owned by 19th century robber barons, and for reform of government employees, weeding out waste, graft, corruption, abuse of power, and incompetant political appointees. No doubt Taft sharpened his skills in these fields durring his brief tenure as Governor of the Philippines, when he oversaw transition to a democratically elected government from the old spanish fuedal system run by few wealthy hacienda land owner families. Frankly, the US could use a president like Taft today, and so could the philippines. Imho M.Defensor makes M.Pacman look like a much more serious, intelligent, choice.
