How much is insurance and registration in Alberta?

Car Registration Expired but Comprehensive Insurance has still 3 months left. Would LTO allow me to renew?

My car's registration need to be renewed but my Comprehensive Insurance is not yet expired since I got it after 3 months when I renewed the registration. First I got the TPL insurance before acquiring the Comprehensive one. Now my question is, would LTO allow me to renew the registration using the existing Comprehensive Insurance? I don't have money yet for comprehensive insurance and would help me a lot if I can use the remaining insured months. If LTO would't allow me to renew using the existing insurance I will be forced to get at least a TPL. Do Malayan and Standard have TPL as I don't want to get TPL inside LTO office. Or maybe you can refer me in a good insurer. My other worry is if LTO will accept outside insurance, you know how this people operate they will make your life harder once they see that they will not get something out of you... a typical government bureaucratic problem. Before I forgot, if I get a Comprehensive Insurance straight away without obtaining a TPL from LTO, will LTO allow it or I still have to get TPL first. I know that Comprehensive has already included with TPL. My friend told me that LTO still required TPL because it is one of their sidelines.

Your insurance is current, so yes you can renew your registration. Be prepared to pay a 50% penality for registering late.
