What is the general dress code for female tourists in Doha, Quatar?

  • I'm a week away from visiting Doha and unsure what exactly to pack. I understand that the majority of locals there will be covered up, and I'm guessing that means we will have to respect their culture. What exactly are the limits - jeans, crops, shorts, t shirts?

    Doha, Qatar is open, you can wear whatever you what for as long as it's decent enough. although personally i believe that if you don't want to be oggled by males, I suggest that you don't wear anything 5 inches up your knees an expose your navel and cleavage. i also suggest that you bring a shawl with you in case you will need it. you are not required to wear an abaya, just dress decently knowing that this is an islamic country and women are expected not to reveal their bodies.

Qatar is pretty much an open city like Dubai where you can basically wear ordinary jeans and shirts and maybe even short pants, Islam is the prevalent religion there though it is not implemented strictly there unlike other arab countries that they even have "Muttawa" or a religious police to address issues on dress code violation. But in Qatar this is not the case they are very westernized but should you need to put your mind to rest you can bring an "abaya" dress which is black in color and worn by muslim women over their clothes to cover any revealing part of their body to prevent what other people may consider vulgar.

Doha, is just like dubai city ,you can wear jeans t-shirts , fashion dresses and as you wish but it shouldn't show any vulgarity...or insulting of islam...
