Who do you think would be the next president of the Philippines?

Do you think Manny Pacquiao will ever run for President of the Philippines?

  • If you want to run for President, you gotta have the money to do it, And with his billions of dollars in his bank account, do you think his money can win him a seat in the Presidency? With millions of Filipino's blinded by his popularity and not his agenda, what will the Philippines be like if he was to be announced our new President? How would you feel if he is our new President of the Philippines? I would be disappointed if that happens. I would just pray to God, that he has a great administration working with his side.

  • Answer:

He will get elected only if Willie Revillame is his vice president

Filipino voters are unpredictable as the weather. Most of the time, they cast their ballots for their own destruction! And they never learn! Time and time again, they keep complaining ...!But to no avail! "Ang bayan kong Pilipinas!" Kaawa awa naman!

please do NOT ask this in the boxing section. there is too much messing going on there. any time someone mentions pacquiao or mayweather jr, there is always a remnant who will jump down your throat claiming one is avoiding the other or one is on steroids and this is going back and forth for a while now! anyway, to answer your question, we will have to see how well he does in his current position before we can determine how well he'd fair in a higher position. it might happen someday.

He seems to have higher and higher political ambitions so it's very possible he'll try for President in 2016 or 2022. Personally, I HOPE and PRAY he does NOT. We've seen historically that the average FIlipino voter is drawn to movie stars, newscasters, and old singers at election time. We're not an educated public when it comes to using our political power. That's why we end up on the streets--EDSA uno, EDSA dos, etc. Too late, we realize the dangers and evils of the very people we adored at first. If Pacquio became president of the Philippines, it would be a sad time for this country. He's not exactly a wide-read or highly intelligent person even though he's street smart. He can easily be manipulated by people posing as admirers--look at the circle of "fans" around him now...Atienza, Singson, Revillame. The Philippines under a Pacquio presidency would quickly degenerate into a country that pushes education even lower down the ladder of priorities and where things are accomplished even more by padrino system instead of the democratic process. Palakasan ulit! In a way Pacquio is the diametric opposite of Pnoy in that he would probably re-initiate the "wang wang" system.

When I read the line that millions are blinded by his popularity (or name) and not his agenda, it reminded of something that happened about thrice now (twice with the same person), the last two just recently. Everyone with a decent enough background that can hurdle Comelec's screening is entitled to run for the Presidency and Vice Presidency. Manny Pacquiao is a member of the Lower House, and he can gun for a seat in the Senate and would get it. If he does it cleanly, he can be the next Vice President or President. But that would be many years from now, and hopefully he would have honed his political horns and get his political priorities by then. He actually lost his first try at Congress. The voters must have thought differently then. Seriously, I think Pacquiao thinks clear and clean enough. And with his wealth and platform (if any), he should be able to buy and form a formidable staff of advisers. It's possible. He has the appeal but he should back it up. Only the campaign period and his political opponents can tell voters and observers if he will actually make it.
