How to get a job at a call center in Atlanta?

Is it diifficult to get a Call Center Job in the Philippines?

  • My family wants me to be in the Philippines for an extended period of time maybe 2 years. However during that time I would like to work. A little info on me. I was born in the US, speak perfect English and have a college degree. So I'm wondering if a call center would consider me? If not, would it be difficult to get an ESL job teaching English in the Philippines?

  • Answer:

First and foremost, get all your papers and work related documents secure. Getting a job at a call center here is a lot easier than you think. Knowing good English and having a college degree already makes you more than qualified for a call center job. The call center industry has a high demand due to the turnover rate which is even higher. A lot of the agents just come and go because most of them work graveyard shifts. The pay is quite high though for their positions, but that's about the only benefit of working in most call centers. The teaching job may be more difficult since they might base your qualifications on your college education. They'll use your course or the classes you took as a basis for your English proficiency. I mean, if those classes are in any way helpful to further mastering the English language.

Legally you would not be able to work here as you are a foreigner. Also you might want to find out how much they pay. I think you will be lucky to earn $200 US per month. English is now taught in public schools

If you'll be living in a major city, it would be easy to find work teaching English to Koreans. Last I knew, native-speaker ESL teachers in Cebu City could make around P40,000 a month. You ought to check that first to be sure though, because my information is a few years out of date. The more legit schools are able and willing to provide a work visa. I don't recommend working under-the-table. It's possible and you're unlikely to get caught, but a legit school would pay more anyway. Plus it would save you the expense and hassle of renewing your tourist visa every 2 months. Call centers would likely consider you too. But it would mean crazy schedules and dealing with obnoxious callers. Teaching Korean kids is even worse, because the ones in the Philippines tend to be spoiled and totally disinterested in learning. But teaching college-aged Koreans is actually quite fun.

As a foreigner you cannot work here legally without a work permit. Call center and Teaching English does not pay well. At best you'll earn P15,000 a month which is just over $300 a month. Then you'll have to pay rent and other expenses. It's not worth it. Forget about working here as a foreigner. The pay is small, no benefits and it's a 10 hour a day job 6 days a week.

As a foreigner, it's going to be very hard getting a job here. I'm from Australia and I'm working for a resort doing website marketing. It was arranged before I came here and opportunities like this are rare. I recently met a foreigner who worked in a call centre in the Philippines. However, if you do this, you'll have to take a Filipino salary, which will probably be $200/month like another person said. You'll need to live in an apartment which is probably more expensive than the typical Filipino apartment. As for teaching English, most of the country speak English pretty well so they don't need foreigners. And as Filipino people are cheaper to hire, you'll find it hard to get a job here.

Make a try Mr. Hu. Get a book about exam for call center agents available in book stores that we purchase 2 of it because we were to open similar school .We undergo training at Convergence, Makati, and it can be tackled by those who are ready like proficiency in conversational informal English, like how do you help your friend transferring to another apartment. If you pass written exam and interview, fine.

No. Actually there are more call center in the Philippines than buying a brief or a panty in a supermarket. Your family want you to go to the Philippines? Why the Philippines of all countries in Southeast Asia? There are Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Hongkong would be nice, Vietnam and Malaysia. Why the Philippines? You didn't give us a few details on this. You are born in the Philippines but I assume you have a Filipino family or one or both parents are Filipinos? That is why you want to go to the Philippines, correct? Because reading between the lines, an American wouldn't say that "he speak perfect English" as we know that Americans do not have to brag about the English language, but you absolutely brag that he speak perfect English. So you are a Filipino that was only born in the US. I was surprising reading that you said perfect English, there is no such thing as perfection in language ability in my own vocabulary. Everybody has a flaw, whether you are a singer or a dancer. We all have our own weaknesses. I guess you never found it yet in your own category I suppose. In applying in call center, sure why not they will take you with both hands and feet. But teaching English I do not think it will be appropriate since you are not as you didnot mention that you finish the course of EDUCATION while in the US to teach the English language. Just having the English as your medium is not a LICENSE already in the Philippines to teach English class. If I were you I rather skip or hide my arrogancy, just because you were born in the US people will look at you with awe and amazement in the Philippines. It is not who you are, it is what you got first before you raise your drum or trumpet and parade on the street. Respect and admiration is EARN in the Philippines, it is not just sold in a downtown market.
