Absolutely YES mate. I regularly buy those cheap 29 buck ''special'' Nokias from Harvey Norman. It doesn't have a camera and all the bells and whistles, just a phone and we send them in balikbayan boxes as presents. They have all worked no problem at all--just remember you have to buy a Philippines plug for the charger and you can get them everywhere there for around 50P Even if you have your Aussie mobile locked to say Optus or Telstra or Vodafone here, it will still work there but the charges will be huge on International roaming. I buy Globe sims and then just pay for load--or credit as I go. As txts are a peso each, you can txt all day long mate. And how they do it I dunno but using load to call back to Aussie is so cheap--I ring the son to see how he is from Cebu, talked for maybe 15 minutes and it only took around 150 P in load--mate,that'ss not even 4 bucks !!! Cheap as Chips !HINT--Filipinos women go nuts on their mobiles they just cant put them down. Take an I-Phone with you, the reaction you will get will be crazy as you are ranked socially their on your phone--I kid you not. They are so phone oriented that the better the fone--the more social status you have. Being white with an I-phone you just became local royalty with the women. I kid you not.Pull out an I-Pad and they will drop at your feet. Mad huh?

Yes it does, phone from Australia but sim card of Philippines, yes it works. 2 years ago I purchased Samsung cell phone for my niece with the sim card of the Philippines and it works.
changed
Yes it will, because the phone is unlock, meaning you can use any sim, even simcards of other countries...:)

It will most likely work. Australian mobile phones use the GSM 900/1800 MHz frequencies - which are also in use in the Philippines.
