PHILIPPINES Free Land?
-
Pinoy ako. Although I am American born, don't speak too much tagalog and you can really tell by my appearance that I am not from there. Anyone know any place where the land is free to live on? I live in America and I just don't like it, the weather, rude people and the run-in-a-circle financial life. I just want to move to a nice warm tropical place, with nicer people, and live off the land for free (build my own house on free "property" and get my own food from nature) or cheap (like a farm). I can even live in unpopulated areas. Basically the wild. I am fine with all of that, but would prefer a still modern lifestyle, but a whole lot cheap/easier living. Also no places where there are rebels near that will try to kidnap someone in my family because they are American. I don't have much money and want to get away from problems and just live happier, although I know it may be harder physically (more labor). I have thought about every aspect of these lifestyles so no need to question me. If you know any places, please let me know. Salamat po. Also would prefer the northern part of the Philippines, but is not necessary. I know things may be cheaper in the Philippines. But after the USD is all used up, isn't it still hard living? Trying to find a future place with no worries of financial problems, I actually would rather grow my own food and catch it.That's all I really need basically, I don't need all this fancy modern tech. Of course there are many places, but I don't know where is good free land exactl, but I would prefer to have some human population, like a village, but less tribe-y

Answer:
You are right. Northern part of the Philippines match you likings.Just have a friend in this area to experiment the location. I recommend Isabela, its Divilakan area, Macunacum, Batanes, Land as residential s are cheaper. My student pastor from Divilakan said land can still be purchased at P1,500 per hectare where you can live up to your 90 age.

Kamustaka? Pinoyako rin. I also grew up in the West, and my Tagalog sucks. Sadly, you will probably always be treated like a foreign sex tourist here... Firstly, land is not free here. It can be quite expensive. Also, are you a citizen? Otherwise you can't buy land. You will have to pay a lot of money for a visa every month too. If you're not a citizen, do that fast! Are you coming with lots of dollars in the bank? Do you have family to support you here? Or from America? Have you signed up for Pag-Ibig? Well, most jobs here will give you a free place to live. Though you sound like you don't want city life? Besides, bedspacers are like what we call homeless shelters. Things are not cheap here. Most things, you will find far more expensive than the west. Try paying US$750 for a pizza!(Yes. A pizza takes like 30minutes of work to afford in America, here, about 5 days of working 12-16 hours a day. So what is 5 times 12-16 times basic wage in America?About US $750) You can go to probinse and work on someone else's farm. Or guard their fish pond. Only 12-18 hours a day will get you a spot to sleep, some rice and some fish. The closest you can get to free land is living on a meter-wide dike in a bamboo hut. You still would need permission. Which would be hard being American, and not speaking the language. You can fish, but that's vanishing in many areas. Not to mention your sewage and garbage is under your house. Quite a smell. And the mosquitoes. Millions. Carrying deadly disease. And the heat. You could also squat. Build a house out of adverts and cardboard. Sell scrap for rice and salt. Probably won't get kicked out very often. You know, you'd be richer than rich people here, just being homeless in America... I'm not trying to discourage you. Just being real. I mean, if you decide to come, great! Sounds like you think differently than the average person. Maybe another free-thinking Fil-Am can help here. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.
The only "free land" that i know of is on a mountain top where my filipino in-laws live.....My filipina wife from Cebu lived on this mountain top for many years untill she moved into the city to have more work available. My in-laws have some kinda deal with the land owners.....my father in-law farms the land and sales bananas to the locals just to have enough $ to eat on but they are doing just fine for most parts. They live in a one room bamboo house & having rice, chicken & fish is a plus. They made me a wonderful offer for me & my wife to live there also....I really love it but living in Cebu, city would be alot better for me & my wife.In our near future we are wanting to also move to the beautiful Philippines but my past visits here have really helped me so much to make better decissions about where i would enjoy to live......So please visit first and then make that important move after you have seen and understand the area where you wanna be 4-ever! Must see first!!!!!! Good Luck!
