What is your opinion regarding the Philippine post office building.....?

Turning into a hotel? A Singaporean based hotel wants to use the Philpost building & turn it into a hotel. Are you for it or against it? They say that the outside structure will remain the same. They might just change the inside interior of the building. For me, I am for it. The post office business is about to fade out because of emails. So I would have no problem for it. I guess it is a little sad because that building is part of history.

Answer:
As a history and architecture lover, I am strongly against it. When the Post office building was built in the 1920s (then called the Bureau of Posts) it was the largest building in the philippines. It wasn't any ordinary building, it was a monument, a symbol of progress in the philippines during the American occupation. The Bureau of Posts held different offices inside of it. The building today is nearly empty, but a hotel isn't the way to revive it. The building is too stately and monumental to become a hotel. The best thing to do is to renovate it and let other private or governmental offices use it. Manila Post office building: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/6/manilapostofficeinthemi.jpg/sr=1

the original post office in sydney australia has been turned into a shopping mall & hotel i'm not opposed to renovating an old building to suit modern uses if that is the best way to preserve the classical architecture

how about a combination, a hotel and a post office? it would take a long time for people to call it a hotel, it would be always be referred to as the post office.
Why not name it as the "Post Office Hotel"?
