Americans living in the Philippines please please please answer one or more of my questions!?
-
I have a few questions about the Philippines that need to be answered. I plan on moving to Iloilo with my husband next January but we're not sure if Iloilo is right for us or not so we are still considering all cities in the Philippines. So if you are an American living in the Philippines please answer one or more of my questions. - Are there any good websites to find a really nice house for rent? - Where can I get solid crime rate statistics? (I already know it's safe but I want numbers so I can prove it to my family) - Is it legal to carry a taser in public for extra safety? - What language is most common among the locals? - Are there any colleges that offer general education classes taught in English? - What are the best restaurants on the island and what are their price ranges? - What areas of the Philippines should I avoid? - What beaches are the best? - Is there anywhere I can rent a jet ski/wave runner? If so, about how much do they cost to rent? - How much does alcohol typically cost? - Are there Taxis that we would be able to call so we could be picked up from our house? - If we are traveling a lot (at least 2 trips a day) would it be cheaper to hire a driver? If so, do some drivers provide the car? - Are there any areas particularly good for sight seeing? - We want a cleaning lady to come in once a week to clean our house and our laundry, where could we find one that is trustworthy? - Is there a better place in the Philippines than Iloilo for an American to live? The reason I chose Iloilo is because I have read so many great things about the area. I can adjust my lifestyle a lot but I NEED a very reliable high speed internet connection to continue making an income. - Is there anything that I should know about the Philippines before I move there? Here is some background info about my situation: *My husband and I are both college students ages 20 and 23 years. *We make a living online so wherever we live we will NEED a reliable high speed internet connection that works well enough to support video calling so we can attend online meetings. *We don't want to spend any more than $1600 (68,384PHP) per month for ALL our expenses including local travel. *We want to live as if we are on vacation and travel around the Philippines as much as possible. *For now we are only planning on moving there for 6 months just to see if we like it. *We don't have children and we won't be having children anytime soon. *We are both fluent in English and have a basic understanding of Spanish and we are willing to buy an electronic translator. *Safety is always our number one concern. Thank you all for taking the time to read all that! Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

- Are there any good websites to find a really nice house for rent? You can find a few overpriced ones listed at ayosdito.com Mostly you have to drive around subdivisions and look for house for rent signs and contact them by cellphone to have it shown by appointment. - Where can I get solid crime rate statistics? (I already know it's safe but I want numbers so I can prove it to my family) Never seen any statistics published anywhere. - Is it legal to carry a taser in public for extra safety? Absolutely not. I have lived in Cebu . Internet there is good as is Mactan Island . You will not need any language other than English . Avoid Mindinao . Visit Bohol and the Chocolate Hills .For $1600 per month you may be ok , keep your money hidden from view , not in wallet in back pocket . Plan on spending about 15 -20,000 PHP for a house , if you want any modern convience . If you want air con , plan on electric bill of P6000 . The houses are not insulated therefore it takes quite a bit to cool them . You may be able to find a house around Bohol for far less than other areas , but check on internet before leasing . Good internet is not widely available outside big cities . Be prepared for many power outages , you may want to purchase a generator
Why choosing the Philippines, there's a lot of countries that's more presentable , suitable and livable unlike the Philippines. 99.9 poor, all beggars, People are uneducated, braggarts, they live like rats, they love holes to hide, because they look like rats, behaves like rats, mentality of rats , the men mainly. Be careful of men down there. They never saw western woman ever, they might kidnap you as they are being rejected by their own women, so they behave like hungry dogs, everything that moves. When they see you they will observe you like they never saw human before, they would be curios, and study your habits. Men might try to court you because they have a very high esteem to themselves, they consider themselves like adonis when in reality they resemble those macac of Africa.

for a place to stay check out "Sulit.ph" or "Ayosdito.com" If you stay out of bars & away from Mindanao no need for the taser. Click on "Philippine crime rate statistics" Tagalog is most spoken but seems like there is always somebody that can speak English. Booze & cigs are very cheap. If you buy either one you will have a lot of friends LOL Every taxi driver has a cell just ask a few drivers for it. Always make sure the meter works as it not working is a scam. Drink only bottled water. Carry your own toilet tissue wherever you go. Do NOT EVER loan any money.
