What do you think of the new DOT slogan "Pilipinas Kay Ganda"?
-
Starting November 15, the Philippines will adopt "Pilipinas kay Ganda" as its new slogan, replacing the existing slogan "WOW Philippines". According to the Department of Tourism, the new slogan aims to "reinvigorate our country’s tourism campaign and double tourist arrivals within the next three years." However, a number of Pinoys have expressed concern and unapproval to the new slogan, saying on Twitter that the international market won't understand it and some even saying that it sounds like a "TV show" and that it lacks creativity or appeal. Answer:
It's a NON-SENSE SLOGAN! Is our tourism industry for Filipinos only? I can't even appreciate the slogan, what more with foreigners? Everyone would claim their place is beautiful so, what's the difference with the Philippines?

I'm not to keen about it. I'm not good in making slogans but comparing it to WOW Philippines, I still prefer that over Pilipinas Kay Ganda. They should have made a survey or a contest for it. Probably, it would have yielded a lot of better slogans if they did that.

not good at all..you can really see here how Pnoy favors abs-cbn...the slogan itself is a combination of "Pilipinas win na win" and "Umagang Kay Ganda" which are both shows of abs-cbn..The slogan is so corny or cheesy and foreigners cant be able to understand it. Why not use again the WOW Philippines??? WOW is not just an expression but means "Wealth of Wonders"! Still wished Gordon wins the Presidential election...=(..

I do not understand it and can see the point of the comments of some saying that it sounds like a "TV show" and that it lacks creativity or appeal. I am left wondering what it means, but then I live in the UK and only speak English.

Here are some aspects I think why the Philippines is behind other neighboring countries in terms of the Number of tourist arrival: 1. Geography Tourist spots are inaccessible...very much expensive when you go to remote islands by taking a plane. The Philippines is scattered Archipelago. Tourist flocks around Thailand, nearby Malaysia, Singapore, Indo China(Vietnam, Laos etc.), Indonesia, Australia. 2. Poor Infra - roads, airports, sea ports, behind from neighboring countries 3. Dirty Place, Not interesting place for food, public market so dirty, 4. Pick pockets anywhere in Manila, crimes etc. 5. Lack of International TV ads, unlike Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand 6. TV campaign/ads not so convincing 7. corrupt government culture/system 8. Mode of transport. Behind from neighboring countries. 9. Incapability of DOT. No innovative approach in attracting tourist... 10. Thailand - Amazing Thailand India - Incredible India Malaysia - Truly Asia How about the Philippines?

I remembered then DOT Secretary Richard Gordon starting the trend of making ads/commercials for a country here in Asia... Remember the DOT slogan, Wow Philippines: More Than The Usual? Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7nRoE5lq1E I agree that using Tagalog will definitely leave out any foreigners as it needs to be translated first before they get to grasp what it means... so I really think English is the way to go... Hopefully, we can still change the slogan... it needs to appeal to the foreigners and yet tweak the local's interest as well... have the advertising agencies bid for it... we have a lot of creative people who can do a good job promoting the Philippines

if it was intended for foreign tourists(which of course it is)its language is definitely wrong. almostall slogans i think are in english(incredible india, malaysia truly asia) as english is the most widely spoken in the world, and the Philippines should have taken note of that. i also wish it had been more creative. WOW Philippines was pretty short and i would have liked leaving it but i wish the new slogan was better.

Amazing Thailand. Uniquely Singapore. Malaysia, Truly Asia. Incredible India. Seoul, Infinitely Yours. then.... Pilipinas Kay Ganda??? for a Filipino, we don't need to be reminded of how beautiful our country is. Living for nearly two years in the Middle East made me further appreciate our pristine beaches, the greeneries, even most of our forests are denuded, and the people's openness. the new tagline for Philippine Tourism fails its purpose. sobrang cheezy. who cooked this slogan, an elementary student in the 90's? man, did they hire a professional advertising company for this one? or sila sila lang nag-isip nito thinking they have great minds? hmm... for foreigners, will they understand this? hmmm... slogans=catchy terms=distinctive words but make sure that the target audience will understand and will retain it their memory. if I encounter the words Truly Asia, Malaysia's tourism jingle automatically plays in my mind. see, that's how great and catchy their slogan is. it's very distinctive thus it has been stored in my memory even if I didn't plan to save it. i'm optimistic though for our country's success. but please, better plans and programs.

Although the slogan is nice to a Filipino who understands the language, I suggest that they re-think of something more catchy in the "ENGLISH" vernacular

Lack of creativity. I just hope that the government will think deeper.
