Again the blame game... You can keep blaming the government and USA but you won't ever progress until you start assuming responsibility of your own country. Meanwhile all of Southeast Asia (highly corrupt too) is growing economically while the Philippines digs itself further into a hole with a gloomy future.

America contributed whiskey, soda and rock'n' roll to the Philippines. they also contributed baseball, and cigarettes.

The biggest favor they did was buying the Philippines from Spain. This is one reason the Philippines is faltering. "I mean can't we just see what's in front of us, we can do well even without them." The US doesn't rule the Philippines. It is ruled socially by the Catholic church and financially by China. The US is simply another trade partner and a big one at that. You can survive without the US, but for every trade partner you do without, you become less successful - especially when we are talking about the larger trade partners. Do without all of them and become a friendly North Korea. So you ask why Philippines isn't doing well. That is a question that may require alot of cultural self examination. Some kids thrive and make it easy on their parents. Some kids seem to be problematic no matter how much time and effort are pumped into them. Countries are no different. People want to look at the US as if they run things here. They don't. They are simply a close trade partner that shares a security pact with the Philippines.

Surely the American found it hard to contribute the English language to La Coquine. Sad but true :(
