Is Nepal a good country to live in?

Is it easy for a foreigner to live in Nepal?

  • I am from Europe, Greece. I wander if it is easy to leave my country and live in Nepal permanently and start a business there. I mean, is it easy to get a permanent visa and live in Nepal permanently? By the way, are there other Greek people in Nepal?

    I once met a lady who had stayed in Kathmandu for 20 years, she was a bit cagey when I asked her how she did it visa wise. Sadly Nepal is very corrupt so there are a lot of things that are possible if you are prepared to baksheesh. Maybe the best option would be to go and do some voluntary work in Nepal first. Then you would get a feel for the place. Is there a greek embassy or consulate in Nepal? They might be able to help you. If you are prepared to invest in a business, I am sure it is possible but be very careful. A naive westerner arriving with pocketfuls of money..... Nepal is stunning but you have to be aware of the situation there
