How does a goldsmith "prove" gold and assay it?

Why malaysian Chinese don't like to buy Gold at goldsmith shops compare to Indian,malay.According to survey.?

    Says who? You? ok...if the survey was made years ago, then it is wrong.... Years ago, before you were born, many Chinese frequented goldsmith shops like we frequent shopping malls. Nowadays, the new generation tends to go for silver or white gold...and precious gems.

Chinese prefer the more high class jade, diamond, shappire, emerald, ruby than gold. I dont see chinese wear jewelries from head to toes like malay/indian.

Mazlan is right on this one but its one of 'em. Silver color looks better. We just invest more in technology (Computers, cellphones, tvs...you name it). Planning the future (you know...the house, furniture, insurance, kid's education) We are more likely to buy clothes. And yes...food.

The surveys are often inaccurate. I wouldn't trust no survey unless it is backed by a reputable accounting/market research firm. For your information, people regardless of race buy jewelery from Goldsmiths/Jewellers and yes that include the Jews. I'm not sure if people like/enjoy buying gold or not. Is there a possibility the Chinese buy gold from the butcher or vegetables seller? I dunno

eh! not really la..i see many Chinese also there, but they prefer to buy white gold and most of them yes i notice prefer to buy Jade and other stones, cause they say got healing power... white, brown, yellow, green...one for money, 1 for health, 1 more prosperity ...aiyah so many la..no wonder i see all the aunties got so so many bracelets , different2 colours...ahahh
