A 2 week trip to Malaysia/ Singapore. Need tips and advices!!?
-
Hi peeps, I am going to Malaysia / Singapore for 2 weeks in the last week of April. I need some travel advice. I will be spending most of my time in Malaysia (approx 10 days). 1) Which places are a must see for someone who loves culture and shopping? 2) My port of destination is Malaysia. Whats the best way to commute between Malaysia and Singapore? 3) How is the weather in Malaysia during late-April / early-June? Will I be able to walk around the city during day-time or is it too hot? Thanks guys! Yahoo Answers rocks!

Hi, where will you be in Malaysia? There is East and West Malaysia and these 2 places are miles apart. I have a feeling you will be in West Malaysia, as this is where the capital city, Kuala Lumpur is. If you are there, then shopping will not be a problem as there are quite a few malls located within proximity to each other. You can easily get to KLCC Twin Towers and shop there, walk to nearby Berjaya Square for more shopping and take the monorail to Sungei Wang Plaza for even more shopping. Across Sungei Wang you have Isetan and Lot 10 and also CK tang. And others in between. So, this should satisfy your shopping urge for a few days. To see the cultural side, you will have to take a trip to historic Malacca and spend some time there. See the Portugese old town and also more shopping :). Night market and malls. You can find them around the city centre. Or maybe a trip to Penang. You can stay at the beach and still find time to roam the temples and such there. And that place is a foodie paradise, so tuck in. From KL, there are regular bus to Singapore. Head to Pudu bus station and you can easily purchase a bus ride. takes about 4-5 hours on the road and at a low cost too. The period that you will be in Malaysia/Singapore will be in the hot month. So be prepared for sweltering heat and humid air. You can walk around most places as there will be shade. Otherwise hop into an aircon cab for ride between destinations. Have fun.

Visit their Twin Towers, they are so high up! Malaysia is soooooo much better than Hawaii. Malaysia is soooooo tropical, they have a lot of lizards in trees, beautiful ones, and their monkeys steal, I swear when I was their, a monkey stole a womans purse, ripped it up all the passports and money and threw it into a stream! They are amazing. The weather can't be better, enjoy it!

Hello you, Now that you've specified where you're going to be at in Malaysia, it makes things way easier to help you out. Places of interest in Kuala Lumpur ~ * KLCC - Petronas Twin Towers (shopping), * KL Convention Center - Aquaria (underwater aquarium), * Bukit Bintang - a whole stretch of shopping pleasure for you, * KL Tower - look at the city from a 421m high view, * Istana Negara (National Palace), * Old Railway Station (Old 'KTM' Station) , * Petaling Street - bootleg shopping paradise (go nuts on imitation goods), * Batu Caves - 272 steps that lead up to the famous Hindu temple set in limestone caves, * Midvalley Megamall - more shopping here, *National Monument - if you do visit here, cross over to Lake Gardens to check out the various parks (Orchid, Butterfly, & Bird Park), & last but not least, * National Museum. For commuting between Singapore and Malaysia, there's the ~ * bus: approx 5 hrs max (fast, cheapest), * train: approx 7 hrs, or (slowest but w/sceneries, medium fare rate) * flight: approx 2 hrs. (fastest obviously, expensive). Unless you're used to tropical countries, you probably would consider Malaysia hot, but during April/June, it won't be too hot to the point where you can't walk around the city. No worries. A pair of shades, a cap, and a bottle of water should hold you just fine under our weather. I did come across an interesting read on where to visit when you come here. Do check this site out: http://www.mymalaysiabooks.com/Federal/Kuala_Lumpur.htm It pretty much covers all that you have to know about moving around in K.L. I hope you have a great time here! Good luck!
