What is chinese in Malay?

If my family is Chinese-Malaysian, is Malay part of my "heritage"?

  • I was raised in Australia since I was a baby Learning Malay would be easier than learning Chinese. If I learnt Malay then I could totally shut up all the people who accuse me of being "white washed" or whatever! I'm good at learning languages and Malay is easy (like Indonesian)

  • Answer:

If your family is Malaysian Chinese without any Malay connections (ancestry), then you do not have Malay heritage. Do not let it bother you if and when people ''accused'' you of being whitewashed. Or whatever!! People have to learn to shut up when necessary and just take a good look at the mirror before calling others this and that. Since you are good at learning languages, why not start learning them whichever pleases you. Do not just learn for the sake of shutting people up but for your own good knowledge and satisfaction. Being fluent in the English language only is just as good as any other. We cannot please everyone, everywhere, everytime. Be happy being yourself and you shall be fine. Merry Christmas!!

It depends what kind of Malaysian-Chinese. Malaysian Chinese could refer to a chinese living in Malaysia and have no malay blood at all. Or it could refer to those perenakans who are a mixed breed of chinese and malay. If you are one of those perenakans, yes, you do have malay in your blood and it is part of your heritage (:

Well ... since your family is originated from Malaysia ... i think Malay language is the best language for you to connect with your 'family heritage' ... because Malay Language not belongs to Malay society but just a premier medium of interaction of this country. However since your race is Chinese ... i think it is also good for you to learn your 'own' language ... do u think American-Chinese know how to speak chinese? ...

You are what you are....if you are Chinese, you cannot change your race to Maly or Caucasian etc. If they call you a banana, (yellow out/white in), call them mangosteens (dark out/white in).

You have both Chinese & Malay heritage because of blood. It's up to you what you consider who you are. You were raised in Australia but that doesn't mean that you have an Australian blood. Be yourseft... but thank the Australians for raising you as one.

i m a malaysian chinese, but i think chinese is the hardest language to learn in this world(even my brother also don't like chinese, coz he said hard to learn, many same vocal but diferent meaning, same word but different vocal) but after i working,i found that learning chinese could help me in my job,coz i handle for foreign purchase, most of the customer or vendor from china, taiwan, can't understand english,so if u can type & speak in chinese,u will get their order(the whole company i work in,got 2 chinese only).believe me,if u learning chinese,it would help u in future
