How much money should i save for Malaysia?

  • I am headed to Kuala Lumpur in late February for 8 days. (with 3 other people) we have flights and most accommodation already paid for so i don't need to know about that. for 5 out of 8 days i am staying somewhere which has breakfast included, but otherwise i will have to be paying for meals and tourist activities and spending money. i don't intend on doing HEAPS of shopping, just your general souvenirs plus some other bargains i guess! i know this is a tough question to answer but how much would you be budgeting to spend when over there? how much should i save? PLEASE specify which currency you are talking about too, i'm from Australia.

    It actually depends on how much money you going to spend on each activity & the place of tourist, but as for the budget, it's suggested to have at least RM150/day/person (excluding accommodation). That's the minimal amount you should have for food, tourist activities, transport & souveniers.

The Malaysian Inland Revenue Dept. hopes for loads if possible, lols~ To your question....As you already have flight and accommodation paid for and you do not intend to do heaps of shopping, then I guess it would not be a lot of money. Let's take it from your side...like, how much would you save for the general souvenirs, meals and tourist activities in Australia? Save that amount of money for when you visit Malaysia...maybe, just two thirds of it will do nicely, maybe just half the amount. Hope that helps :-)

Sightseing, bus/taxi fares, snacks, occansional shopping...RM150/= per day average[in your situation].....so, set your budget at RM1,500/= [say, US$500/=, or AUS$550/=] pocket money for yourself for the 8 days.... You may like to budget 50% more to be safe....
