Planning a trip to Malaysia, help with planning/ideas of what to do?

  • Hi I have been living and working in Australia for the past 7 months but am eager to start traveling again. My fiance and I, (after much debate) have decided to go home to England firstly via Malaysia and the Amsterdam for a touch of European charm. A week in Amsterdam is easy enough to plan however i hav no idea how to go about planning Malaysia as i'm not sure what is feasable to do in 3 weeks. As such i'm finding it impossible to draw up a realistic budget. Can anyone giv me any good ideas for planning a three week itinerary in Malaysia. I am very keen to try as much Malaysian cusine as possible and am very fond of trekking and wild life (For the record, and due to time constraints we will only be doing Penisnsular Malaysia.) What are the best things to see and what would be the cheapest and easiest way to see all of these things? I look forward to reading the answers of people with a lot more knowledge of this place! Thank you in advance!

You can do alot in 3 weeks. I'm not sure about your budget, but I will give you a few choices: 1. For wild life and trekking, try "Belum Rainforest". They claim to be the oldest rainforest in the world, even older than Amazon. You can't stay in the rainforest itself, you got to stay at the resort outside. It's expensive though - check this out: http://www.belumresort.com/ A cheaper alternative would be the more tourisy "Taman Negara Pahang". More choices of accomodation. Just google for Taman Negara Pahang and you'll see a whole lot of package, how to get there, etc. (If you decide to go here, just pop a question and many will be happy to answer". 2. You may also spend two or three days in either Penang (nothern side of M'sia) or Melaka (South-Central) or both. Penang and Melaka is similar, but yet very different. I personally like Melaka more than Penang because it's nearer to KL and it's easier to go around, and more lively.... Both places offers great food. 3. Kuala Lumpur - for shopping, the tallest twin towers, mega malls... but don't be surprised.. there are lots of places where adventure seekers would like like the largest enclosed bird park (http://www.klbirdpark.com/), Bukit Nenas park, museums, food and glorious food. 4. Tioman Island - a great place to relax. or Langkawi. or Redang. or Perhentian. Definately all better than Bali (I just came back from Bali and Redang, so I know). I can't think of any other places now. Maybe someone else have better ideas?... hmm... Welcome, and do ask more questions once you have finalised what you want...

Hey!! ha ha, im a Malaysian and if you wanna travel in Malaysia i would say its a good choice for you to experience the Malaysian unique culture. alright, (i do not have much time but i'll come back as soon as possible to feed you the full info) talking about Malaysia, the place that you MUST visit is the capital and of course Kuala Lumpur. well, Kuala Lumpur (KL) is a very big city. Yes a big city, which also means lots of shopping spots for your buying needs :) you have places like Petaling Street, the china town of Malaysia. The Kuala Lumpur Tower, the Petronas Twin Tower are indeed the one of the most attractive places to visit in Malaysia. If you look more into the culture of Malaysia, there are also places like Muzium Negara( National Museum), Istana Budaya ( Culture and arts Centre) , Istana Negara ( national Palace) and so on. * you could try on the link below to look more about Malaysia. Hmm, here i will introduce the highlands that most Malaysian and International tourists LOVE to go. firstly we have Genting Highlands, the highland with up to 5 stars hotels or cheap hotels which is absolute a place that is suitable for families and couples. ( I do go there often with my parents or friends during holidays =P). In Genting, they introduce the fresh environment ( its a highland ) and of course, they have a theme park inside which brings lots of thrill for you and your fiance :) next, the second highland i would introduce is the Cameron Highlands. well, in short description, it is a place where plantations are being done, there are lie strawberry farms, tea farm. if you heard of BOH tea before, its plantation its situated in Cameron Highlands too! However, if you look more into FUN, cameron highlands may not be a good choice for you because it mainly consists of scenery views, and feel of farming life. And also. The Islands in Malaysia! its is undeniable that Malaysia has beautiful beaches. like Tioman, Redang, Lang Tengah, Langkawi and many more! (oops, i gotta go, will come and continue update for you, sorry for my bad english )
