How To Save Money In Malaysia?

Are there internet con artists in Malaysia?

  • Met him online, now he begs for money to save his sons life. What are the usual scams in Malaysia? He says he has money for sons surgery but needs $4000. more or son will be paralyzed . He calls constantly and is hurting me. He sounds french and says he came to U.S. as a child. His name is Joel Albert, from N.Y. state. I can't find that name with his age in N.Y.

There are cells of Nigerian scammers in Malaysia who are running these scams http://www.datingnmore.com/fraud/scam_database.htm "When we say "Nigerian scam", it doesn't mean it originates from Nigeria only. It may also originate from any other West African country, like Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal etc.. But recently Malaysia became a real hotspot for Nigerian scams. There is a huge Nigerian cell operating out of Malaysia" http://www.romancescam.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=23742 "Over the past few days there have been a lot of posts, and a lot of complaints about the posts dealing with Nigerians in Malaysia" -- and read the 7 pages of comments of people who have fallen for these scams http://www.meet-single-people.com/internet-dating-scams.html "Malaysia is gaining popularity as a spot for "Nigerian" dating scams. " http://www.hotscams.com/articles/nigerian-love-scammers-busted-in-malaysia.html and thousands more hits. That's how common this scam is He is not French, he is from somewhere in West Africa. he is not from NY. Malaysia has universal healthcare meaning there are no hospital bills in public hospitals. And you can't get into a private hospital without private health insurance. So he is full of crap that he needs money for treatment. Unlike the US, you can get free healthcare in most other countries. And where is his employer?? If this was at all legit and he was working in Malaysia, then his employer would have private health insurance and would be lending him money if he needed it You need to cut off ALL contact with this criminal and report this to the FBIs IC3 division for investigation http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx If you gave this person enough of your personal information for your identity to be stolen (full name, birthdate, home address, etc) follow the guidelines on the FTCs site to protect yourself. You are never supposed to give your full name, address, birthdate or any other private information to anyone you meet on a dating site until you meet in person - and it doesn't matter if it takes 2 years to finally meet. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft/consumers/compromised.html A single call to the US Embassy in Malaysia's American Citizens Service will confirm there is NO American by that name with a Malaysian visa, there is NO son in any hospital in Malaysia. If there were, the embassy would have been notified the day the patient was admitted http://malaysia.usembassy.gov/service.html Want to prove it's a scam - write back to your friend to say that you just got off the phone to the Embassy and gave them all of his contact details. Say that the embassy and a Malaysian government official are going to pay a visit to the hospital tomorrow to check on his son's condition and arrange an emergency loan for treatment and to get his son home once his condition is stable. Pretend that you are very worried but say "Don't worry honey, the woman at the Embassy was so nice and they are going to help you. They are going to call you first thing in the morning and visit your son at the hospital" -- then just wait for the excuses
