Where do I go to get married in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia?
-
Salaam and greetings to everyone reading this. My wife to be is from Australia and I'm from India. We have met through an online dating service and we have decided to get married. However, it takes a long time to process an Australian visa from India and therefore we have decided to be in Malaysia and get married there preferably in Kuala Lumpur insha'Allah next month. Please note, we both are Muslims and we would want to get married at a Masjid or somewhere Islamically by a Sheikh or an Imam who is eligible to perform this marriage. We don't know anyone in Malaysia and therefore we will have to find 2 witnesses from there to validate the marriage. My request to all of you here who is aware of where and how marriages are conducted in Malaysia to inform me so that we can get married without any hassle insha'Allah. I would appreciate if any Muslim brother or a sister from Malaysia can give their thoughts in this matter. Jazakallahu Khair. P.S: I have to be in Malaysia next month for business purpose and my family would not accept me marrying a non Indian even though she's a Muslim and that's why we want to get married in Malaysia as I will be there next month anyways.

Answer:
I am confused. It makes no difference where you get married - your visa is going to take just as long to be processed. Whether you are married in India or Malaysia it will take just as long. You will have to part post wedding, she will have to return alone to Australia - getting married does not give you automatic entry to Australia. So I am unsure why you are wanting to get married in Malaysia?

Things will be more complicated for Muslim couples.Call and talk to this people or you can visit the nearest Malaysian Embassy to get the correct information.. Best of Luck!!
