Traveling to North Korea?

I'm thinking of traveling to North Korea?

  • For 2wks. If I travel to North Korea for pleasure, am I gonna make it out safely? I've already read everything on the US travel info, so don't give me any info from there =)

    There's always one person every week with this question isn't there. Have a nice time. If the guards let you. Oh, just a precaution- if you eat a blade of grass in a concentration camp you beat you until you can't move for a week. You're taste of vacation? If you want to get out, have a person outside the country with £5000, or $8000 ready. It costs that much to bail someone outta North Korea.

Contrary to what most people think, it's not dangerous to travel to North Korea. You will always be with your tour group and so long as you don't do anything stupid and follow all the rules, you will be absolutely fine. You are not allowed to travel around north Korea independently. I am not sure if you've already found all this information, but the only way in is from China. You should look into Koryo Tours. You will find more information about the process and costs on their site. I went to North Korea a little over 10 years ago when tourism first opened up. We stayed on a cruise ship for a couple days and hiked up the Gumgang Mountain. It was beautiful. Just be sure that you follow ALL the rules no matter how silly it may seem. If they tell you not to sit, then don't sit. If they tell you not to take a picture, don't do it. You should also keep in mind that Americans are absolutely hated in North Korea. Always stay with your group. (you probably can't deviate far from them anyway) Have fun.

You've already stated you have read pertinent information. This advice is from experts regarding safety and travel. If you are looking for advice here, you're not likely to get genuinely informed answers. I would follow the expert advice and find a more 'pleasurable' and less risky destination. North Korea doesn't sound a bit pleasurable in my opinion. However, each to his own. It's your time, it's your money.
