How can I apply for JYP audition online?

Questions About JYP Audition?

  • Hi, I have some questions about auditioning to be a part of JYP Entertainment. I'm really interested in it. (I'm a 14-year-old girl). 1) I am 14, will they accept me being that young? 2) I cannot speak Korean at all. I can only speak English. Will I have to learn Korean? Will they teach me? 3) I live in NC. Will I have to go to Korea to audition? Can I tape an audition and send it to them via email? Or should I audition online? Are there any auditions being held in the US? 4) I'm still in my first year of high school. Is that a problem? If I got accepted to join JYP, would I have to stop school? 5) I haven't talked to my parents about this yet. I don't think they would take me seriously. Plus, they keep saying I should go to college and make a good living. They have great expectations for me (typical Asian parents) because I do very well in school. We just had a talk and they started saying that I could probably get a recommendation to Harvard from someone we know. They want me to make like, lots of money. They didn't go to college and they don't want me to struggle. Any suggestions on how to tell my parents? 6) I'm Indian. Would they accept me, or even consider me? (I'm not a Hindu, I'm Christian. And I'm pretty light-skinned, as well.) 7) I have to train, right? Can I be trained in US, or do I have to go to Korea?About how long would I have to train? 8) How pretty do I have to be? Do I need certain hair (color, length, etc.)? Do my eyes need to be a certain color? Would I have to be really skinny? Do I need to have a certain skin tone? Etc. 9) Do I have to be able to sing AND dance. I mean, I would say I'm a pretty good singer. I never sing in front of anyone because I am kinda afraid people would make fun of me or something (especially my sister). So, no one has heard my voice, except for me. I'm also a pretty good dancer. Would I have to get singing/dancing lessons to be better? Will they teach me how to be better? 10) What if I send an email audition in or audition online, and they accept me. Will they pay for my ticket to Korea for me to do a live audition? 11) How many audition rounds are there and are the judges mean? 12) Will JYP make you follow a strict diet? I love my food but I'm also really skinny (with a little blubber on my tum-tum :P) and underweight. 13) I wear glasses. Is that okay? Or would I have to get contacts? 14) Will I be going to Korea alone if they accept me, or will my parents be coming with me? 15) Will I ever get to see my parents again? If so, how often? 16) If I live in Korea, how will I pay for things while I'm training? 17) Do trainees get paid? And when you become an idol, how much do you make a month/year? 18) Any extra information I should know? 19) Any advice? Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • Answer:

    1. Yes, you will still be accepted. You are not very young for a person who is auditioning. 10 - 14 is usually the age rage for auditions. The younger, the better. 2. You will eventually learn how to speak Korean. JYP will teach you the Korean language. 3. There are audition in the US. They are in NY and LA. You can also do an online audition (sent by email) Check here for more info: http://jype.com/ 4. You would not have to stop attending school. You will have to transfer to an international school in Korea, though. You might struggle handling all the training and studying, but it shouldn't be a problem. 5. You still should go to college. Being in the entertainment scene is risky. You need a back-up job. You can also try auditioning after college. Tablo, a Korean rapper, graduated from Stanford before pursuing his career in entertainment. That's also and option. I'm not really sure how you should tell your parents. Once you debut, you won't go to school very often because of the schedules. 6. Honestly, if you are not Korean or Chinese, you will have an extremely low chance of getting accepted. It's difficult enough to pass while being Korea, speaking English fluently, and singing and dancing well. I don't want to discourage you, but your chances are virtually none. I think American Idol or America's got talent will be a better choice for you. 7. You probably will train in Korea. Even though JYP has a few bases in the US, people don't really train there. The many years you train will depend on your talent. The average training year is 5 - 7 years. 8. JYP is more lenient in the looks category than SM. You do have to be above average. Light skin is definitely preferred. Being slim is good. No particular eye color or hair length or hair color required. 9. Yes, you will have to be able to sing and dance. In the Korean music industry, to be a singer, you are basically a good entertainer. You know how to act, sing, dance, DJ, MC, etc. Of course JYP will teach you how to be better (not from scratch). That's what all the years of training is for. 10. You will not be accepted into JYP after an online audition or email audition. You will have to go through 2 more rounds in Korea. You will have to pay for the plane tickets and hotel, too. However once you get accepted, JYP will pay back the hotel and plane money to you. 11. There are three rounds. The judges aren't mean, they are making sure they choose the right trainee out of the 3000 applicants. 12. You will have to be slim. You might have to go on a diet, but that is up to JYP to decide. 13. Glasses are fine. 14. Your parents can come with you once you are accepted, but they will have to pay for their own ticket money and will have to find housing and a job in Korea. 15. You won't be able to see your parents very often. 16. Your parents will have to send you money. JYP will give you an allowance, but it will be very small. 17. Trainess don't get paid. When you become an idol, there is no salary. It depends on how many albums you sell, how well the movie you starred in was in the theaters, etc. You will only get a small percentage of it. 18. - 19. Just be natural and keep practicing!

1) I'm fourteen, too! :D &yeah, 14 is a great time to start 2) It's fine if you can't speak Korean at all because they'll teach you once you are accepted. You'll also learn other Asian languages. It's also an advantage to know English because Koreans love English :) 3) You could go to NYC, NY to audition live or upload a video on <>http://www.audition.jype.com/> or, as you said, you could go to Korea. :) 4) Haha, I'm a freshie, too. That won't be a problem because they'll send you to school in Korea/LA (depending on where you train). 5) LOLOLOL. same with me. when i told my parents, i was sort of embarrassed because they always talked **** about the korean idols. however, when i told them, they said all i had to do was get good grades&they'd let me become an idol. don't try to talk to them together. get the easier parent to listen to you first&pray that they help you talk to the other parent. 6) Uhhhh... JYP is known to accept all sorts of nationalities but I can't be sure. Just go for it :) 7) You can be trained in LA or go to Korea in order to train. Training takes about four years minimum in order to debut. 8) JYP doesn't really look at your looks. You could go in weighing 100kg&debut weighing 50kg. 9) JYP specializes on dancing a lot. But yes, both is needed because that's what idols do, dance&sing. That's what training's all about, getting better. 10) No, they won't. Yes I know it sucks, but it's true... 11) There are about three different rounds&the judges give constructed criticism so it's all for the better. 12) Yes, they'll put you under a strict diet. 13) It's fine to wear glasses as long as you have contacts in handy. 14) You can go alone because they actually put you in dorms with other trainees. 15) LOL. yes, you will&that depends. They can come visit you but you won't have a lot of time to visit them in America. 16) The company will pay for everything you need. 17) Trainees get allowances. It depends on your contract. 18) GOOD LUCK :D 19) don't show them you're nervous&try hard or they'll kick you out. GOOD LUCK :D
