What are some good Korean Dramas?

  • I know this is a question that has been asked quite a few times before, however I would like to ask it anyway. Here's the list of one's that I've seen already: Coffee Prince You're Beautiful Boys Over/Before Flowers Playful Kiss (Can't wait for episode 7 <3) Goong (in the process of watching) Personal Preference/Taste (I watched the first few episodes but couldn't seem to get too into it) Shining Inheritance (in the process of watching) There are some more that I can't think of right now. If you know of any more dramas that are like this, please let me know :) Also, I dislike historical/medical dramas, as well as dramas with mainly older people as the main characters (40's +), so please don't suggest any of those >< Any good japanese dramas are welcome as well :) Thanks so much.

you should watch King of Baking, Kim Tak Gu Its one of the most AMAZING dramas i have ever watched. The main guy is pretty cute and the story plot is so interesting. http://wiki.d-addicts.com/King_of_Baking,_Kim_Tak_Goo -Kim Tak Goo is the eldest son of Goo In Jong, the president of Samhwa Enterprise, a legend in the baking industry. Although he is an extremely talented baker and seemed destined to succeed his father as president, Goo In Jong's family plotted to rob him of his inheritance because he was born to In Jong's mistress. Tak Goo's determination to become number one in the baking industry drives him to rebuild his career from scratch despite the many trials he faces. also. the OST Hope is a Dream That Doesn't Sleep sang by Kyuhyun of Super Junior is a great song. It is one of my favorite songs :D hope you watch Kim Tak Gu <3

Aside from your list which I have watched/ in the process of watching (playful kiss), the following dramas are worth watching for: 1. IRIS - Korean Drama( I love the role of "TK1" , plus the love story) 2. Sungkyun kwan and Scandal - Korean Drama ( still in the process of watching) - its kind of BOF 3. Summer's Desire - Taiwanese Drama ( Ou Chen or Lou Xi? I prefer Ou Chen - an Ideal Husband) 4. Bad Boy / Bad Guy - KDrama merely because I love Kim Nam Gil and he portrayed his role that well...the lead girl in playful kiss is one of the cast and this is her first acting role before PK 5. Queen Seon Deok - the reason why I watched Bad Boy...It's KNG's acting break! 6. A Man called God - if you want an action-packed romance...you'll definitely love it

There's one drama I always mention to people interested in Korean shows. It's called 모래시계 (Sandglass), and I first saw it when I was still living in Korea. It was first released in 1995, and it's set between the 1960s to the 1980s. I know most non-Koreans seem to watch things like Coffee Prince & Boys Over Flowers, and Sandglass isn't like these dramas, but it's defiantly one of my all time favourite shows. It shows the three main characters from early adolescence to full adulthood. It's basically three people in three different lives (thug, law student, rich kid) who're all connected. It takes you through Korea during the Park Chung Hee & Chun Doo Hwan dictatorships, the Kwangju uprising of 1980 & Koreans' struggle to come to terms with their history. So, it may not be the sort of thing you were looking for, but it's a really good drama. It's one of Korea's highest rated dramas. If fact, this drama had such an important role in real life, that it put Chun Doo Hwan in jail. (During the Kwangju uprising, hundreds of innocent people were massacred on the orders of Chun. Even in the 90s people didn't really talk about what happened, no one had really come to terms with it, but Sandglass was the first to bring it up, reenacting some of the slaughters that happened, horrifying the viewers and it was this that really started the action against Chun.)
