Which Korean entertainment company do you think I should audition for?
-
Hi, everybody!! ^_^ I'm an avid k-pop lover and I just adore everything about it! All of the girl groups/solo artists are my idols (especially SNSD, BoA and IU). I love learning all the dances and I sing the songs around the house. I was absent-mindedly singing Mr. Taxi at school a little while ago and the best singer there (trust me, she's SO good) said that I was really good! Also, all my froends and family say I'm an excellent dancer. I'd like to audition for a company, just for kicks (I don't actually think I have a shot) because I never really put myself out there. Here are some good things about me: -I have a happy and bubbly personality. -I can sing. -I take four dance clases a week. -I'm healthy (I eat right, have a nice body, ect.) -I have no problem with performing. -I'm smart (I can pick up things quickly) -I guess you could say I'm pretty. -I'm very go-with-the-flow. -I'm studing Japanese. Here are the bad things: -I'm Caucasian. -I don't know Korean. -I'm so shy some of my classmates who I've been going to school with for two years thought I was mute and were actually surprized when I talked. I would just like to try it. What company do you think I have the best shot in? If you don't think I could make it at ALL in a Korean company, what are some American ones I might be able to audition without being laughed at? Thanks!! ☆彡

Answer:
Honestly speaking, you should try out for an American entertainment company. Korean companies don't really hire non-Koreans, hardly hire other types of Asians, and I have never seen a caucasian in the kpop industry or Korean entertainment industry either. But if you're 100% determined, you might become the first! I'm not really sure. I don't want to be a dream-breaker by telling you that you have no chance in the Korean industry, but I'm just going to tell you right now it is a very very slim chance.

try to all of them and if all of them accept you then choose the one you like the most. Knowing korean it's not a must, Jay Park, Nickhun and Victoria didn't know korean, they were taught when they were trainees. you should know the chances of being accepted are very little so don't go with too high expectations cause if you do and they don't accept you it will make you feel really sad, just go, try your best and if they don't accept you just try again later, it's not their fault and it's not your fault. I have and advise from my personal experiense: if you're shy don't act like you're outgoing cause it will look weird, just bee yourself and don't be scared. I'm shy and once I auditioned, not for this, and tried to look outgoing and funny, but I looked awkward and I wasn't accepted, and then another time when I acted normal, just shy and boring as I am, they accepted me xD I had a small tole in a tv show called Casi Angeles in my country ^^ really small, 3 episodes, but it made me really happy. anyways what I'm trying to say is I guess being honest is the best thing. I just wanted to say that to you, maybe is a good help

You can try all of them usually everyone tries all of them lol or the big ones because those go almost around the world a few times in a decade. If you really want to be notice for your "gift" You should be brave and put pictures and videos of your skill on the internet, Sounds kind of creepy lol but yeah people will see you and help point out where you need strengthen in your work. That is why people do put up videos. You can try the auditions that are the closest to you or the ones that have open auditions. And try not caring about being laughed at, Did you Keys audition video? WHOA! He wanted it and he got it. You never know which entertainment company will pick you, so that's is why it's good to try them all. Heard some of the idols auditioned like 2-5 times. Well Good Luck With It :D

You should try out for various companies they might all accept you or they might not but you should also make your decision based on what's right for you. For example SM Entertainment is a little thougher and their training is more intense but if you work really, super extra hard then you'll be fine. JYP focus on your training but they also focus on how well you're doing academically so if you are only focused on training and failing school they'll kick you out. Then there's YG, who focus on talent more than anything and again training from any company requires hard work and dedication. You could also try the smaller agencies like DSP (Kara, SS501) Starship (Sistar, K.Will, Boyfriend) Cube (Beast, 4Minute) any of these are good too.
Hey! :) That's great that you know you have potential.~ I would advise that you should take YG Entertainment (they manage BIGBANG, SE7EN, 1TYM, 2NE1). The reason for this is that YG is much more comfortable with English-speakers and focus on taking over the American industry more. Many of the groups they manage speak fluent English, and the treatment isn't as cruel. SM ENTERTAINMENT = Gosh, here we go again! Yes, SM is awesome. The groups they have blow us away. (SHINee = <3) BUT, they tend to go for looks rather than talent nowadays, this is to prevent spending money on plastic surgery. As far as I know, Jessica and Sooyoung from SNSD have spent 7 years to train. You have no guaranteeing of debut. --SM is great, but think about this, do you want instant fame or being able to showcase talents? JYP ENTERTAINMENT = JYP, so far, seems like a good place. Applicants are processed on a first-come-first-served basis during public auditions held EVERY 1ST AND 3RD SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH. Trainees are recruited in a lot of ways like public auditions, Internet auditions and recommendations/referrals. They are more focused on dance. THE BAD THINGS: *Speaking Korean is mostly required, because as a trainee in you need to be learning Korean, Japanese and Chinese, and English. If you can't understand Korean, why are you listening to KPOP? Many of my Korean friends argued with me over this, which led me to taking lessons for two years. I speak fluent Korean now~ The thing is IF YOU ARE NOT ASIAN, there is a very, very little chance of you getting in to the business. If you really want to audition you can to go to their Seoul headquarters, where there is more possibility. Most agencies in Korea require only Asian trainees, like SM and JYP. If you don't believe me, look here for SM's Global Audition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvmEcdu4OoQ (listen to what Henry from SJ-M says.) I hope they do make an exception though. I know a lot of Non-Asians like Asian music nowadays. Typical Asians that they accept are Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Korean. (I'm Filipino. :P) I HOPE I HELPED :)
