What is middle school like in South Korea?

  It's a wonder why these people waste their time answering these questions when they have absolutely no personal experience. Anyways, I've taught for several public schools here in Korea. A few PT gigs, and one FT. With the FT, I received 2.7 million won per month. (about $2400 USD, give or take, since the exchange rate is always up and down) I got housing, 50/50 insurance, pension. (I did not get airfare since I have a spouse visa here, it was included in my severance) I only taught 4 classes, 45 minutes each per day. I also received 10 weeks paid vacation per year. I highly recommend teaching for a public school. The salary is better, and the vacation is 8 weeks more then you would get with a slave job at a "hagwon." (private school) You need some experience before applying for some public school positions. However the ones offered in the countryside tend to not care the amount of experience you have. Also nowadays most districts are getting cheaper, and only trying to hire teachers that have spouse visas in Korea. I have several African American friends that are professors at 3 different universities. Yes there is some racism, however in the public school sector or university the ministry of education does not have a race war, like the privately owned slave drivers. (funny how they only hire whites, yet the private schools nickel and dime the crap out of you)
